Arrow makes good karts from what I've seen. I've never driven one though. I don't know of any dealers around here. I'm sure there's at least one, but I just don't know who they are. I would ask around.

Rotax FR125 is eligible to race in TAG classes. You could race a Rotax FR125 in both TAG and Rotax classes.

Rushman: This place sells Arrow chassis: http://www.cometkartsales.com/

They are located in Indiana:

Comet Kart Sales
2650 West Main Street
Greenfield, IN 46140 317.462.3413 - Phone
317.462.2740 - Fax

But if you plan on racing at CHMS, I would really think about how you could get spares on race day if something breaks. It's not fun to get up early in the morning and go to the track and have some part break and no one has it. You'd lose your entry fee and your time and effort. That happened to me 2 times with my CRG chassis. That's one of the main reasons I have a Birel now.

Before I ask the question let me say I agree with you that a newbie is better off racing a chassis that is supported at the track.

However I am curious, what broke on your kart that stopped you from racing your CRG?

Ran out of brake pads once and then fuel pump.

Ran out of brake pads once and then fuel pump.

Brake pads in most cases (not all) are specific to the kart but things like fuel pumps are interchangeable. That's the reason I asked because if you really like a kart that's not supported by the track, you don't have to rule it out. You can run the kart you like if you carry a small spare parts bin with parts specific to your kart. The interchangeable stuff like axles, gears, throttle cable, fuel pump etc., you can buy at the track.

I'm thinking of giving karting a go. What kind of money should I expect to spend on a used kart?

rushman picked up a good one for about $4000. I think you could get a decent used TAG kart for about $3000.

Thanks mate. Where can I rent a proper outdoor kart? I'd like to try it out before buying one.

HPV or TAG .... $2500 to $4500 depending on year, make, model and of course condition.

DD2 or 125 shifter ..... $4500 to $6500 depending on same as above.

on a good used chasis you can expect to pay between 750-1100 for a kart with no front brakes and 1300-2000 for a kart with front brakes. Of cousre this price is with no motor
