Hi all,

We had a nice turnout last night with 17 drivers participating. Martin Lenick was the top qualifier for the main event (winning two of his qualifying heats), followed by Roger Rodrigues, Greg Shebert, David Mickelsen, me and Mark Hirt. Unfortunately for Greg, he was rewarded for his fine work in qualifying with the worst kart on the grid for the final, kart #8.

The top 6 held their qualifying positions for the first few laps of the main event. On lap 3, David made a nice pass of Greg Shebert to take 3rd and I followed David through to take 4th, dropping Greg to 5th. Mark was right on Greg's tail at that point and they had a spirited battle which lasted for the remainder of the race.

During lap 8, David passed Roger at the hairpin to move into 2nd. Later in the same lap, I managed to squeeze by Roger at the end of the sweeper leading to the Red Bull arch, putting me in 3rd and dropping Roger to 4th.

Things were pretty static up until about lap 16, when David was finally able to catch Martin at the front of the pack. I had a pretty good seat to watch David make several attempts at Martin before finally getting past to take the lead on lap 19. However, I couldn't take the time to spectate as I was also pretty busy with Roger right behind me. After David completed his pass, I managed to close up on Martin, but not close enough to pass. Roger made a nice try to pass me in the hairpin around lap 23 or 24 but couldn't quite make it through.

At the end of 25 laps, David was the winner, about 1 second ahead of Martin. I finished third, about 2 seconds behind David, and Roger was fourth another second back. Greg and Mark finished 5th and 6th, around 12 seconds behind Roger.

In addition to winning the event, David had fast lap in the main at 30.01, more than 0.3 seconds faster than all the rest of us. Congrats to David for a great drive.

Special congrats to Martin for crossing two milestones on the night: running his 700th individual race at CIR and also crossing the 300 mark in pro-score points.

I hope everyone had a great time and I look forward to racing with you again at our next Grand Prix on Tuesday, June 21.

See you then,

Peter J
