I am checking interest level in an 2 cycle A&D program at CHMS. Karts to choose from currently: DD2, Shifter and TAG. Karts would be race prepped by myself and/or VKP and transported to the track early enough for Saturday morning practice prior to the start of their race day activities. They would be available for the full season schedule if someone is interested in running for championship points. Pricing would be based on choice of motor package and customer needs such as new tires at each race, trackside assistance, tuning, wrenching etc.
If you already have a kart, the maintenance, prep, transportation and trackside assistance is available to you.
Pre-payment of minimum 10 races up to the full season will be discounted.
Feedback please.

I think I would have an interest in TAG and possibly DD2, to try out the CHMS scene before committing to buying a kart.

We will do an open demo day with the DD2, shifter and TAG next year but probably not before the 1st race of the season because CHMS is starting their season so early. I prefer to do the demo when the weather is nice since introducing karting to potential racers when it's 40 degs outside might turn off some people.
It's possible to do a special demo day in March for you and any die hard racer trying to make a class decision before race 1 providing I don't have to install snow tires :)

If I dont get a kart prior to next year I would be interested in a setup like that.

Doing a demo would definitely be a good thing, but by no means does it have to be early when its cold out, having a chance to get familiar with the outdoor karting atmosphere in a non-race environment would be a big plus. Im not looking to be the most competitive guy out there or even be out there for every race of the year. just start to get my feet wet and figure out what kind of racing I enjoy most. Do you have a general range of what the pricing options might be, that would be a great help, if you do not want to publicize that information I understand. Thank for providing this service.

It's $50/person for a demo day with each driver getting 3 or 4 on track sessions of 10 mins each.
I also rent it by the hour for lapping or I can customize a class to teach you some of the basics of karting....seating and hand position, brake and throttle control, the racing line and some chassis tuning basics. Brian Jacobsen will be doing the advanced classes. Pricing for this depends on each individual customer and start at $250 for 2 hours of lapping.

Phil
Are there any additional details on this A&D program that have emerged since December?
Patrick, I will rent you my DD2 for less than what Phil would charge you. :) Just let me know when you would like to try it out.

Depending on the weather I plan to do the demo days in late April or early May. You'll have the choice of driving a 6 speed shifter or a 2 speed DD2/RM1. There is one problem, it doesn't look like I'll be able to do the demo at CHMS. I would need to buy a vendors pass to do it there and I don't think I will be doing enough of these to justify the cost of the pass. There is a possibility VKP may get involved with the program and they have a vendors pass for CHMS. I'll have to let you know about that if it happens.
Right now my only option is to do it at USAIR...great track if you don't mind the drive.

Thanks for the offer Rick. I will most likely take you up on the offer sometime. My only concern being the DD2 might be too much kart for my experience level.

Thanks for the update Phil. As, I posted in the reply to Rick a shifter/DD2 is probably too much kart for me. If you do not have the demo day at CHMS, would you still be able to offer a TAG A&D service for the races or does that also require a vendor pass?

The shifter is definitely a handful to drive but the DD2 is actually easier than even an HPV. It will however take some practice to get use to the higher speed. If your mind is set on a TAG A&D at CHMS, you can call Brian Jacobsen at VKP (630-260-9516) and he will put together a package for you.
