This year, CIR Endurance Team regulars will not be able to take part, although other teams are free to recruit a regular to join their team.

That's what they said last year. Every year there's a team that breaks this rule by recruiting more than one regular. :shakehead:

All drivers must be at least eighteen years of age, although drivers with prior experience at CIR in adult karts will be permitted to join teams.

Does a CIR junior count as a regular?

Please Rick give me an example. Most of us cannot remember who was on what team almost a year ago.

A CIR junior is a regular and they are pretty damn fast.

I doubt I'll be racing, nobody wants an old fat guy :takecover:

What will be consider as a "Regular"???
I should not be consider a regular because I just race at CIR couple times a year. Last year I believe it was no more than 4 or 5 times.
What about drivers like Dave Yourd? he should not be consider a regular neither.

Semantics. If that were true, then Mark Hirt and Roger Rodriquez should be considered non-regulars. And we all know that's not true. All of you guys have raced at CIR from the very beginning and have always been extremely competitive there.

If Dave Mickelson stops racing for 1 year does that make him a non-regular? I think not. Technically, he might not be a regular after one year of not racing but in the spirit of the event he definitely would be a regular in my opinion.

The organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to teams stacked with CIR regulars – this is meant to be a fun event and should be won by a team competing in the spirit of the event, rather than to the letter of the rules.

Guess I need to do every race Rick does if I want to be a "official" regular again

Rick keep this in mind it's Bob and Brian's event. They get to make and enforce the rules. If you have a problem with that you don't need to race.

Personally I think it's great that they do this event every year.

That's my point exactly. I actually think you're more of a regular than I am. :hum: I thought I made that pretty clear before in my previous statement:

Semantics. If that were true, then Mark Hirt and Roger Rodriquez should be considered non-regulars. And we all know that's not true. All of you guys have raced at CIR from the very beginning and have always been extremely competitive there.I guess not.

I don't have any problems with the Zirves and I never have. I think they do a great job running it every year. I'm just bringing up the point that there are teams who try to "stack their teams with regulars" every year. I guess that should be expected. I'm anxiously waiting to see which teams will have more than one regular this year. Hopefully it's the team I'm on!

Has there been clarification as to what their definition of REGULAR is?

Am I a regular?

It's been a month...My first visit was 27 Dec. and I have been there 7 times now. I've have only been on track #4 twice. :)

And how about me? Last night I had 17 bowls of popcorn at Track4 and am now feeling quite irregular.

I already found one team with two regulars on it. Unfortunately, it's not the team that I'm on. :frown:

What team are you refering to?

Please understand that the entry form very clearly states that it is up to the organizer if a team is allowed to run or not. Bob Zirves is the organizer and unless he has stated that a team is competing it isn't for sure.

Where did you guys see the list of teams? BTW, my dumb ass scheduled my bachelor party in New Orleans the same weekend. So, I won't be embarrased again this year. Good Luck.

I understand completely that it's Bob's event and that he decides which teams can race.

Dave

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. I wouldn't bet on not being embarrassed though. A bachelor party in New Orleans sounds like it could get really crazy. Have fun!

Hello Guys
I just want to say that every year I try to keep teams fair to the spirit of the event. which the spirit of the event is to put on a good fun race not just for vendors of the kart expo, but kart shop’s and race teams from across and outside the country that are in town for the show. This is for them to come out and have a good time.

I do allow in local kart shops and teams, but with local teams I have to watch for guys that not so much spend a lot of time racing at cir but are fast at cir, that being said this event is not for a person to come and average in the 29sec. most drivers won’t run but a few laps in the 29sec.bracket.

If you’re a local outdoor racer and you’re affiliated with a local shop that wants to run a team in this race; as long as your team is fair and plays by the rules written or unwritten I have no problem allowing the entry. But I cannot and will not allow a team to come in and beat up on teams that have never been here. If this happens people won’t come back. And I have lost teams/drivers because of this.

Added to the press release and entry form this year is the fallowing “should be won by a team competing in the spirit of the event, rather than to the letter of the rules – that stuff can wait for the regular season” there is a reason for this and it isn’t because a team from Utah, California or the UK came in and decided to work inside the gray area of the rules to win the event.

There are local drives that meet the criteria, but say they don’t want to race just because they’d rather leave the space for teams and shop coming in town from across the country and they would rather come watch the race and meet new people because they know they can come and race any day of the week.

I know it been said that I play favorites and pick and chose who I want in the race. Well your dam right, this is my event and I can do whatever I want.

Not to mention that these are the people I can trust to help my other guest out with driving lines and techniques; helping them run faster laps and enjoy themselves.

Thanks For your understanding.
