KART HAS BEEN SOLD!

Hi all,

I am selling my RM-1 and all its spares to concentrate on other forms of racing.

I purchased it used in November of 2006 and had Fall-Line go through it. The previous owner claimed to have raced it only twice. I drove it four or five times last year at Norway-CHMS. It is very fresh and ready to race.

It comes with an AIM Mychron 4, with data key and both magnetic and infrared lap timer pickups. A Streeter heavy-duty kart stand. Also a bead breaker for those that like to change their own tires.

Spares include: a brand-new in-the-box Rotax axle, a spare gear set for the transmission, a spare battery, a spare set of wheels with fresh mounted tires, wheel hubs of several different lengths.

Asking $6,000.

Any interest out there? I'm thinking about trying craiglist next.

Peter,

I have had very good results using craigslist for renting apartments. I also sold a snowmobile recently off of craigslist. When selling personal property on craigslist you will however get inundated with strange e-mails from scammers mostly from foreign countries looking to send you a bank cashiers check for an amount larger than your asking price they then want you to deduct the shipping costs and cut them back a check for the balance.

I have also heard stories of buyers coming to your house to purchase your property paying with an official looking "bank cashiers check" You will not know that you've been taken until your bank contacts you several weeks later. My advise would be to use caution when selling anything even when the buyer pays with a bank check.

Just my thoughts,
John

It's a longshot but I can repost this in the Milw area on one of our boards if it helps you get rid of it. What class/series can one run this kart in?

Peter, I would try Ebay. That's how I sold mine.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

John G, the RM-1 runs in the DD2 class if a track has one. I've also run with TAG karts on occasion.

Rick, did you end up shipping your kart to the new owner or did they come by your house to pick it up? If you shipped, how complicated was the process?

The guy who bought it was local and plans to race it at CHMS. He picked it up from CHMS. There were actually several local guys who were interested and contacted me via email. The guy who bought mine, was so eager to buy it that he circumvented the bidding process at Ebay by buying it directly from me.

There was also a user "p_gordon" who messaged me and asked me what the absolute lowest offer I would take was. I believe he is local as well. :hum:

The guy who bought it from me said that there is increasing interest in the RM1/DD2 class. The reason he bought mine was that his boss had just purchased an RM1 from Fall-line. They said there's a lot of interest in DD2/RM1 at Autobahn. I would also try selling it at Autobahn. Some of the guys who were interested in mine were members of Autobahn.

Good luck on the sale.

Too funny!

Thanks for the tips Rick. I am heading out to the Autobahn on Friday and will try to spread the word out there. Fall Line worked on my kart so maybe they will help me sell it.

I was able to sell the kart to an Autobahn member. Thanks again for the help.
