Does any here use kevlar sprockets on their karts? Does it help?

they only last a short while on higher torque motors and they have to be perfectly aligned or they last about 2 min. save the money and just stick to Alum.

We run them all the time on the lower hp engines (Junior and Sportsman).
They break if you have an off course excursion.
Kevlar ones (tan) are a lot stronger than the plain composite (Black).

I think you could save more weight wearing thinner socks.

I get excellant results with Kevlar and RK Blue o-ring chain on a Tag.
Most of anyones problems with sprockets is not having them aligned straight.
I think when you first start karting it doesnt matter what you run. If you hit curbs and go off track things break.
I have chipped off a few teeth on the Kevlar ones. Hit a curb or ran over it. Think an alum. would have bit the dust too on that one.
Had one wear out from not being properly aligned. Otherwise they last a long time. Have full set of alum and about 12 Kevlar ones. Some reason I use Alum when I Road race and sprint I will throw the Kevlar back on. Not sure why though, just something I do.
The black ones are ok. They break alot easier than the kevlar ones. The black ones you have to be careful not to over tighten the nuts and bolts when you put it on. They will crack there, best to use washers on both sides.
I'm not worried about weight. With having a Sonik engine I have to add 25#'s of lead for sprint racing and 60#'s of lead when I RR Tag Heavy.
