 Much better day and more fun. Rick, Ryan, & Jim K. were out. That makes for a more exciting practice!

I have some small adjustments I need to make to the kart. The throttle seems to be off or 100% on. That might be a slight exaggeration, but I want some more throttle control. The motor is GOOD.:bugeye: All my temps and rpm are where they should be. Now I just need to learn to drive.

I improved my 52 second lap to 47.91, (thanks Rick). I am still braking for turn 1 and the Monza. My brain can't seem to override my left foot yet.

I can't make it Saturday for the race, but next time you guys are going to practice I would love to be there.

Very cool, Bob.
I think it took me what feels like seven years to get into the 47's.
I'm glad I'm racing Masters and you're racing seniors.
After next week I'll be hiring you for coaching.

That engine is the best Leopard I've driven!

Good practicing everyone!

47.9 Great job! Rick how did you run? This weekend should be better with warmer temps and some rubber on the track.

The track was kind of slippery still. I was thinking of starting off with 60psi in the tires today, but decided to go with 12psi. I also made sure I tightened my lug nuts by hand this time. I think I posted some low 47's (47.3, if I remember correctly).

That's funny! well at least you were better since Sat. I hope I pick up a little this weekend although I didn't get much time on the track last week to see what I could do. I picked up my engine today and will bolt her back on and run it a little at work tomorrow.

Wow! Great time MotoBob. I have practiced a few times last year. Never got in the 47's. You might be the guy to watch in Masters! LOL!

I thought you ran a 48 flat and I ran a 48.1 while we were out there together??? I think I only had one lap that was better all day at 47.91

Rick passed me and I followed him around the Monza. That cut the .19 seconds!!! :)

No, It was a 49 flat and you were a 49.1

An important thing to remember is that Bob was driving at TAG Senior weight (no weights). I think Ryan is over TAG Masters weight. Either way, breaking into the 47s so soon in slippery conditions is a great feat even at TAG Senior weight. Keep up the good work!

 49??? Oops. I was questioning my memory all day. After reading the posts here and seeing Rick's times I was questioning that 47.9. A 48.9 would make a lot more sense after looking at the track records etc. 2nd & 3rd fastest were 47.2. I left my kart out there so I can't check the my Chron. Considering it was slick, I am on old tires, it was my 3rd time out there, I am breaking for turn 1, and the Monza...it would be pretty amazing to be that close to a Rick and track records.

OFFICIAL CORRECTION: I improved .19 seconds after you left for a 48.91.

 Sorry Everyone!!!

Nothing to be sorry about your still moving well for just starting. Looks like your ready to hit the races!

Is that the trick to turn 1 no brake? I can't see that. Is that the way the top racers take that turn without hitting brakes. They just throw it in the turn? I'm thinking no way, but that turn is allot like turn 1 at Badger. I take that without braking. I NEED PRACTICE!! LOL!!!!

I have 2 senior Tag racers that I'm helping get set up. I know they wont be up front to battle the leaders. But it is 2 more faces for Senior Tag. They are ready to practice, hopefully in a month they can get out and race.

Bob, there's nothing to be sorry about. You've only been in the kart 2 hours (if that).

Jeff, in a DD2, I have to brake for turn 1. But I've been told by others that some take it flat out in a DD2. DD2's are much stiffer. In my Birel TAG, I lift right before turn in (.1 or .2 seconds maybe?) and I'm basically back on the throttle flat out all the way to turn 2 before I brake really hard. I think Martin takes turn 1 flat out with no braking or lifting. It probably depends on your gearing as well.

It's been a while. Which one is Turn 1?

If I remember correctly, it can be taken flat-out. I don't know if that's the fastest way to do it, but I know it's scary as heck and I couldn't do it consistently.

Turn 1 is one of the turns where the heart says "BRAAAAAAKKKKKEEEEEE!!!!!" and the brains between your legs say "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! MORE POWER!!!!" and the feet say "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT ME TO DO!!!!!!????????" and the brain says "We're not going to make it. Why doesn't anyone listen to me?".

BINGO...........
flat-out is not always the fastest way.

Just my 2 cents......

I am working out some details, but I am trying to get out for practice tomorrow, (Monday, April 7th).

I know most everyone got to race this weekend, but anyone interested in coming out please let me know.

Just thinking out loud here...

NEXT RACE:

19th April: I will be out of the country.

26th April: What is this Route 66 Series? It sounds too official. Should I skip that one?

3rd May: I have to work, but I think I will try to get out of it. This might be my first race.

10th May: 2nd Race

Then I am gone until July
