How many heat cycles can you do on the MG Tires (TaG) before they are done?

From what I hear the MG's will stand up until the holes are worn out. But the Bridgestone YHC's lose time after just one heat cycle. Dave Harrington has more experience with this.
MG Yellows will last about 2 race weekends at CHMS. If you want to be competitive, you will want to buy a brand new set each race weekend. But now we are on a harder compound. The MG SLE could last 3 race weekends. I'm still using my set of SLEs from Rock Island last year for practice.

As a shop I would love to have customers buy tires everytime out... BUT, this just isn't sustainable for most, and in the end is bad for everyone.
Yellows (FZ) are generally good for 2-3 days of racing before they will start the drop-off. This seasons TAG tire is slightly harder, and should give a little better tire life.
Some racers, like Rick, put on more tires than others. For the most part, it comes down to taking one more variable out of the equation if your bidget allows. I would say putting them on every raceday is the exception, not the rule.
In my experiance, Bridgestones will begin the heat cycle drop off the second cycle, while MG's last far longer.
I use a set of tires for practice, and one for racing. My race tires never see a lap of practice until I decide to move them down and buy new race tires. Even owning the shop, we race this way. It costs a second set of wheels to get started like this, but the tire savings will cover it the first season.

PS- For those looking to run Route 66, the spec is YHC's. We have them in stock, and they qualify for the Free Entry Credit program.

That makes you want to get a brand new set too. And they do the same when they see you with a brand new set. So it's a never ending cycle.

I highly recommend buying a second set of wheels. It definitely helps to save money in the long run as Andy said. And on that note, I really like the black Douglas Mag wheels.
