View Full Version : Remove Track 1 from the Pro Series League
I think we should remove Track 1 from the track lineup. Track 1 is just 2 dragstrips with a hairpin on end and an S turn at the other end. It's way too easy to block. I say we do only Track 2, 3 and 5. What do you guys think? As Mark Hirt once said... "Track 1 sucks!"

Track 1 is a good configuration for those that pay 95+% of CIR's nut.
Anything that keeps CIR successfull is great for all of us.
Martin, I think you misunderstood the question. The issue is not whether or not to physically remove Track 1. The issue is whether or not Track 1 is a good track for us to race on for our leagues. The case against it is that it is too easy to block.

Oops, sorry. Trying to reclaim my scotch.
Agreed. T1 is not for the experienced. Actually, I think my initial defence of its existance supports that it's inappropriate for the top 5%.
edit: emphasis should be on "leagues" or the like; I still enjoy T1 on A&D's. I admit I'd prefer T2.
Then you should cast your vote against it, if you agree (see poll at the top of the page).:)

This one had me laughing.
I'm not a big track 1 fan for most occasions though.

While I agree that
1) The new Track 1 is not as much fun or as challenging as the old
2) The new configuration does make it easier to block
I also believe that as long as we run Track 1 clockwise, passing opportunities will present themselves.
I am against running Track 1 counter-clockwise for any serious event.

I'm with Peter. You can make some passes going clockwise but we should never run an event going counter-clockwise.

I think I've done about 4 races on the "new" track 2, but I'm still voting for it.

The SCCA event was run that way. It was basically a train following a blocker until Peter forced the issue .
