I am also interested in ROTAX. I will probably be going to south bend mrp sometime this week to try one of them out. But I would like to know about the cost ect. too.
UPDATE
So I went to try out a ROTAX kart at MRP of South Bend on monday and it was great. The kart was faster than any other kart I've driven and handled very well. The track staff there was very helpful and taught me alot about karting in general. Having been used to racing indoors at CIR, driving on an outdoor track was very different, those curbs really beat up my ribs. Overall I enjoyed ROTAX immensley and am thinking about buying a kart myself.
I'm thinking of getting one also. Especially because they allow Rotax Max karts to race in TAG races also. I would prefer to get an RM1, but I'm not sure if those are allowed in TAG.

The RM1 is not allowed in TAG. They run their own class in the MPS at USAIR and in the MWSS. In the MPS, they run with the 125 shifters but are scored separately.
If you don't plan on running the RMax Challenge, then there are more competitive TAG packages out there that you may want to consider. At the RIGP, Jim from John's Kart shop had a complete TAG kart with the latest and greatest power plant, brand new, selling for $3495.00. You can contact him at 773-586-5600.

p.s. Two guys in the MPS stepped up to shifters and are selling their RM1's. Both are like new. I can give you their contact info if you're interested.
