Hi all,
Congrats to Mark Hirt for winning his class at yesterday's "Autocross in Hell" at Route 66. Mark's time of 51.549 in his mighty Celica was 12th quickest in the overall index of performance out of 137 drivers. I finished 118th with a time of 58.171 in my Subaru.
Congratulations to both of you! I was at BMWCCA Autocross IV yesterday and it was very hot.

Thanks!
It was Hot, so hot I blistered my right front forcing another tire rotation during my off heat.
7:00am: changed all four tires (Bridgestones off, Hoosiers on)
Nooish: Swapped rears, left to right (right rear got a blister as a front last event) put car down, jack up right side, swap front to back.
4:00pm: change all four (Hoosier off, Bridgestones on)
Thank God for 4 pump jacks and power tools.
During the day I saw many people huddled under EZ-up's. Actually the "cool" ticket was under the west end of the grandstands where it was in the upper 80's with a cool breeze.
Peter: I did not know your were there till the drivers meeting, next time find me and we will take a course walk.

Thanks but I only feel the heat before my first run, once I launch the car I'm ok till my afternoon runs.
I don't know why that happens but it's kind of nice.

I leave mine in most of the time. It did "release" itself from the windshield once, quite exciting hearing it fly around inside the car. It's final resting place was on the floor in the back.

Maybe I should take the I-Pass out of the car? The extra 2 ounces must be what is costing me 4 seconds relative to the other Subarus on street tires.
I am getting better. I think I finished ahead of about 20 people this time. Only DQ'd on 1 run instead of the three that I DQ'd my first event.
I am definitely going to hunt Mark down and walk the course with him at my next event in October.

Looking at the pictures Mark shot, I definitely need to get closer to the cones. It looks like I am at least 2 feet away.

I didn't take those shots.....
It depends were on the course you were at the time, case in point. In the picture of me I'm way off the pivot cone but if the picture was taken a fraction of a second later you would see me "just missing" the cone in front of my passenger side headlight (with the drivers side of the car). In a horsepower challenged car (like mine) it's all about speed maintenance, my goal is to get as close to that exit cone going as fast as I can. To be honest that should be the goal of every driver but horsepower makes people lazy and well slow.
