How was Norway?
Did you race?
I hope that you had a great time. :36_5_11:

i did :)

the racing was awesome!!!

my times weren't stellar but i was able to improve with each session... i'm pretty happy with my performance overall but i've got a LOT to learn before i'll be competitive...

couple of other things i found out i'll need sooner rather than later - a seat that fits, and new tires :)

(if anyone has a tillett T7 size ML - let me know!)

i'm so glad i made the commitment... it really is incredible what those karts can do!!

it is a whole new level for me and i can't wait to get back out there!!

special thanks to mark & peter for coming out to support me...

maybe they can post some pictures of me missing an apex here and there and getting myself all sideways ??? ;)

I have a question for Greg what made you choose HPV over the other classes of karts?

Greg:
I have a used Tillet that you can try if you want.
It's my old seat, but still in good shape.
Are you going next weeek (Route 66)?
If you do, I will give to you next time that I see you.

i chose hpv for a few reasons...

one, hpv has been around a long time and there are plenty of used karts/equipment available...

almost everything that i've purchased so far has been used... i wanted to get into this with as little startup costs as possible...

also, at least at norway, hpv is a great class for two reasons... the heavyweight class usually gets about 10-12 guys each weekend... the racing is very very competitive - nobody ever seems to blow away the field or anything like that... the lightweight class (which i am running in right now) has only a few guys that show up regularly (only 3 really)... this gives me an opportunity to race and learn without causing too many problems for those guys...

once i feel more confident/competitive in the kart - i'll likely switch to the heavyweight class if i can eat enough cheesecake and find a way to bolt 45lbs onto my kart :)...

originally i was eyeing tag, then the rm1... those are both GREAT karts and look like a blast to drive... however, both of those classes are still pretty new and, with tag, the rules are still being sorted out a little... being new, used parts aren't so easy to come by and the number of competitors (at norway) is far fewer than in HPV... (in fact, norway doesn't even have a class yet for rm1)...

i figured i'd stay in hpv for now and wait for tag & rm1 to mature... then, maybe at the end of next season, i'll look at switching into one of those classes...

in the long run, i think tag & rm1 are the way to go... i've even heard talk of a spec shifter class which might be interesting... for now though - i've got a LOT to learn and a LOT of room to grow in hpv...

hey roberto

i'm planning on making it out for the route66 thing...

it looks like they are going to start earlier than usual - qualifying at 1pm instead of 3pm...

i'm not 100% certain yet though... i'm pretty much in desperate need of tires so i need to make sure that's in the budget :)

also, i'd love to try your seat out - do you know what size it is?

i've got no problem with an authentic, roberto castro, used seat... maybe it'll come with some of your skills too!! :)

Greg

Sounds like you had fun. There was never a doubt  I have a few seats also, new and used....let me know if you don't find one that fits. I'm in Evanston. As far as tires go, do they run a spec tire?
