thanks guys, you guys need to come to one of our races. Blackhawk is an awesome time, the tag race there should have over 35 karts in it

I was at Blackhawk today for a track day. There's a huge pot hole on the exit of turn 7. I can't imagine hitting that in a kart! :bugeye: I definitely want to check out (spectate) one of these kart road races. What's the mid corner speed in a TAG in turn 7? 70-80mph? I do 65-70 in my Exige S, so I'd imagine a kart would be much faster. What's the top speed at the end of the front straight for TAG karts?

i would have to look at the mycron but i figure like 75 or 80 since we average like 88mph around there. as far as top speed last year just before turn 9 i saw 109. what does a lotus turn for a lap time there my tag did a 1.17.5 there last year and this year i think i can get into the 16's

I thought there are only 7 turns. Do you mean the last turn before the front straight?

I don't have data acquisition or a lap timer in my car. I looked at some Midwest Council times and it seems that 1:18 was best lap by an Exige last year.

A good lap time in a Spec Racer Ford is around 1:19.5

I'm surprised you guys are that fast through turn 7. My AIM data shows my minimum speed in that turn in the high 40's. Peak speed before hitting the brakes for 7 is around 99mph for me. Peak speed at the end of the main straight is about 105mph. My lap time is around 1:21.4.

I seriously don't think anyone (except maybe the 650hp Noble M400 on race tires) was posting anything near a 1:19 laptime. I bet the SRF really moves through the turns.

My numbers are not accurate I don't have data acquisition for my car. And they are not mid-corner speed. I basically look down at the speedometer after the apex when I'm sure I'm pointed the right way and I'm on the throttle. I agree that an Exige's minimum corner speed should be less than a SRF's minimum corner speed. When I was instructing, I would look at other people's speed through 7 and it seemed that 50-60mph (mid-corner) was about what everyone in an Elise or Exige was doing. Maybe our speedometer's are off a little as well. Also, everyone was doing about 50-65 in turn 1. I think many people were hitting 105-110mph at the end of the front straight. Most people with good brakes, would brake at the 3 marker which is probably really early for SRF or karts.

Having seen karts do 105 mph down a straight, brake and turn 90 degrees on a course as wide as 2 lane city street, I'm not surprised that karts can go that fast. Especially considering they probably corner at 2.5 lateral G's through there.

oh sorry the old track maps have the track at 9 turns and turn 7 is the turn right after the access road. so in turn 9 (or turn 7 what ever you want to call it) we are doing like 65 or 70
and i think the most i saw on lateral g's there was like 2.1
and you can look it up in my laps the times are all there

Congrats Adam! Awesome job! I will call you.

Rick, go there and race in August. It's a 3 day event. Practice all day on Friday. You will get dialed in enough. The extra speed in the kart is awesome. Believe it or not, by the end of the weekend you will want to go faster. To feel how to draft in a kart is the best. You would fit right in. I will be racing Tag Senior at Blackhawk and Road America. Tag heavy/masters I have to put to much lead on.

Anyone, on this site with a TAG should come up to either Road America or Blackhawk or both. Adam and I (mostly Adam) would be willing to help anyone get set up. Plus I will be BBQing both places- well worth the trip

Roberto- thanks for coming last weekend, it was a great time.

Adam, I might as well throw my money in a wood chipper! If I ran in Pro race!I would rather get track experience this year. See if I can keep up with you guys. I may strap the extra lead on and run heavy. Run 4 races at least. Any help from anyone would be great. Have not been in sport that long to know much about my set up.
Also the Motori is about a month away!!! I know you will say run the Motori, but what engine has advantage at RA or Blackhawk? Cause if I get Motori before RA may need some help, LOTS of help!! LOL!

at ra last year there was 2 leopards a sonic 2 rotax's and 2 motori's up front. so no real advantage there its just easier to tune to make it fast. the leopard and rotax guys had to work there ass off to make them that fast. Allen declerk was the fast sonic, he knows his stuff. At blackhawk the motori is fast and i think has an advantage. If i didnt have an ignition go bad i think i would have walked away.
And as far as the help thats what we are here for, there isnt a motori that we help out that is slow in CES. We all share info and i carry alot of parts. It dosent hurt that the motors have some good drivers with them either.

Jeff, your Sonik will have more top the Motori will have more mid range.
The biggest advantage to the Motori is that you will have at least 8 other guys out there to share info and support with.

Did you order yours through Manning or CKT? The reason I ask is that Mike has an odd sense of time and promises, I quit dealing with him directly and get everything through Adam.
