There was a great turnout for the event as the Route 66 Sprint Series was at the track. There was about 17 karts in Tag Lite(Roberto's class). Roberto turned a 47.2(his best time of the year) in practice and was happy with the setup of the kart. However, his 47.6 time in qualifying relegated him to 7th on the grid in the prefinal. He had a great start in the prefinal and was in 3rd after 1/2 a lap, and that is where he finished. In the final, he had quite the battle with a guy in an Intrepid for 2nd and passed him after about 2-3 laps. The guy didn't give up though and Roberto had his hands full for the remainder of the event. The Intrepid driver got a nose under Roberto in turn 10(right before the tunnel) and pushed him to the outside on the last lap. Roberto got loose in the outside and ended up finishing 4th. It was quite the race....had everyone on the edge of their seat. Although the final was disappointing to Roberto, he should be proud to have even got where he was on the track.....the front runners had full support staffs at the track tuning their karts between every session. It was a lot of fun....look forward to seeing some of you guys out there before the year is out.
