View Full Version : CIR Lap Records
IMPORTANT: Please note that the lap records are kept in the Chicago Racers Wiki
http://www.chicagoracers.com/wiki/index.php/CIR_Lap_Records
This is a thread to track the all time lap records. If you think you have a record, post the following information:
1. Your name
2. Please post the kart number if you remember it
3. Track
4. Direction
5. Your weight that day
6. Lap Time
7. A link to the online timing/scoring page
The weights will be in 10 lb increments. A fast time for a driver who weights 165 lbs is in the 160lbs to 169lbs range.
Rick Apichairuk - Kart 39 - Track 1 - Clockwise - 165lbs -14.44 - oskar (http://scores.oskarsystems.com/cir/%28S%28b1hbe1zt3g0rn4550vc1ds45%29%29/Race.aspx?RaceId=101586&Center=cir)
If any of you guys know of any of the other lap records, please let me know and I'll post them up. I'm sure Peter, Martin, Dave and Stefan have a ton of record times.

James Burns' first 11 laps in that race were actually my times.
Elliot Fridonio has done a 14.14 counter-clockwise (I don't know if that was a 9hp kart or not, though).

Track 1 - clockwise - 14.49 - 190 pounds - 2/18/07 - kart #4 (I think)
Track5 - counterclockwise - 27.81 - 190 pounds - 2/4/07 - one of the new karts, don't remember the number
Sorry I can't figure out how to post links to the timesheets on CIR's web-site

Sorry I can't figure out how to post links to the timesheets on CIR's web-site
You have to right-click -> properties on the inset part of the page (the part with its own scroll bars) to get the address. For some reason this works in IE but not FireFox.
Peter: Just highlight the entire URL (in the address bar at the top of your browser) and copy it and then paste it into the post. I added your lap records to the first post. I went ahead and added the oskar links for you.
Doesn't Martin have the record for Track 2?

Doesn't Martin have the record for Track 2?
I think Mark Hirt beat me. I don't remember what mine was, I think 14.96 CCW. Pretty sure Mark beat that, and with at least 60 or 80 more pounds.:)
I think someone just smashed the track record for Track 1.
http://www.chicagoindoorracing.com/toptrack11month.asp (http://www.chicagoindoorracing.com/toptrack11week.asp)
14.28 - wow.
Adam, you beat Tobi. I guess SlimFast works eh!? =)
Looks like Mark had a 14.88 on T2 (direction unknown). Which direction (CW or CCW) is faster on T2?
CIR-Reed
02-21-2007, 05:13 PM
Mark did his 14.88 on T2 Counter clockwise.
Elliot did a 29.34 with an average of 29.58 on T3. I will post a link as son as I can find it. Elliot weighs 155.
Andrew Palmer did a 27.26 on T5 during an Ironman and I think that is a record on T5. Andrew Palmer weighs 100 pounds and had 30 pounds of lead on his kart for this race. So call it 130 for this race.
Keith Harris did a 14.13 on T1 Counter Clockwise without weight on his kart. He weighs 95 pounds.
Elliot also did a 14.13 on T1 Counter Clockwise and he weighs 155.
Robert Zirves did a 14.19 on T1 Counter Clockwise and he weighs 170 pounds.
I did a 29.62 in the 9hp kart on T3 and I weigh 270 pounds. That was my 5th race in it so I should get faster.
John Oliver did a 29.52 on T3 and he weighs 190 pounds.
I am not sure what the record is clockwise on T3. I think Zak Hansen did a 29.6x. I can't find it in his records though (it takes time to look through hundreds of races).
That is all I can think of for now.

Mark Hirt

Mark did his 14.88 on T2 Counter clockwise.
I did a 15.07 Clockwise on Track 2 last week. There was more time out there but I only had one or three clean laps. (10 driver arrive and drive)
The 14.88 and 15.07 were with me at like 205
I'm not very fast on T1, probably because I HATE it
T3 best 29.98, a long time ago but I did 3 98's in a row, not bad for an old fat guy.

Adam, you beat Tobi. I guess SlimFast works eh!? =)
The difference between 180lbs and 165lbs is unbelievable. It feels like I'm cheating when I drive. I've only done 4 races (arrive and drive) at 165 lbs so far. Out of the 3 races where I had clear laps, I did a 14.37, 14.41, and 14.44 as my best times (clockwise). I would have been satisfied with those lap times going counter-clockwise at 180lbs.
I can stay at 165 pretty comfortably, but I think dropping any lower is going to mean mass amounts of running, which I am not inclined to do in this weather. I'll probably do it if I buy a kart for outdoor racing, though.
You should really try to get down to 110 lbs to really maximize your speed. :)

I ran a 14.29 on Track 1 counter-clockwise at 190 pounds last night. Don't remember what the kart number was, but it was one of the new frames. I believe I ran 14.30 in two other races as well. I love how the karts with the new frames turn.

How much does Gordon weigh?

Gordon is 165 pounds.
I hit a 28.33 (in kart #34 @ 185+ lbs) in the last 200 Lap Enduro. Not anywhere near your record time Peter. :disappointed: The new karts are SO much faster. One of the guys in LAPS inc. was driving #39 and just pulled on me on every straight. It was very noticeable.
peterjank
02-28-2007, 06:54 PM
Kart #40 also appeared to be very fast. The guy driving it appeared to weigh 220 to 240 pounds. He would get it all sideways in the turns and still pull me down the straight. Fortunately, he was a gentleman and eventually waived me through.

All of the track 3 times that I mentioned are counter clockwise times. If memory serves me correctly Zak Hansen has the Clockwise record weighing 140 pounds with a 29.62.

I believe it was last Saturday when Rick was racing, last name Apachairuk (forgive my spelling if that is wrong). We were pretty busy on both tracks and he was on track 2 with a full field of racers. And these were not veterans, i felt really bad for him because he was getting knocked around so much. I wanted to say sorry to him after he was done but he left really quick and looked angry.

Don't be sorry for us; just give us free laps.

By the way, who has the helmet-toss distance record? Erjon?:)
CIR-enBAUMlmer
03-07-2007, 10:52 AM
I've never seen someone toss a helmet more than five feet. But i have seen a lot of people toss their cookies into the helmet. One guy pulled into pits, didnt even get up and ralphed in his helmet, just sitting there in the cart. It was horrible.
peterjank
03-07-2007, 12:02 PM
I would guess Brian Zirves or Matt Kamrad on the helmet toss.
Adam Andrea
03-07-2007, 02:20 PM
It was horrible.
That depends on your perspective.
Perspective of the guy who puked: Horrible
Perspective of CIR Employee: Horrible
My perspective: Hilarious
CIR-Reed
03-07-2007, 04:18 PM
Brian Zirves is still the only person to throw their helmet, then pick it up, then throw it again.
As far as distance is concerned Brians helmet completed two trips across the locker room. Kamrad's helmet made it from the pits to the soda machines. Probably nearly equivelant.
On the subject of track records, Elliot did a 13.98 on track 1 counter clockwise in a 6.5hp.
John Oliver did a 28.85 on T3 counter clockwise in the 9hp.

Thank you but last time I checked it's extremely hard to do a so called "cheat lap" going clockwise, feel free to try.
An "arrive and drive" and drive is not a race, it's Qualifying. In Qualifying the best lap time wins!
Cheating is altering the kart in some way to make it faster or handle better.

what is a "cheater lap" ?
A "cheater lap" (as Mark and Martin refer to it) is when you alter your line in such a way that you are giving up the optimal line on one lap in order to optimize the lap time of a immediately preceding or following lap. This is done in contrast to sticking with the racing line and trying to drive the fastest lap each and every lap like you would in a real race.
A "cheater lap" is not really cheating at all. But that's the term Martin and Mark have used in the past to describe it. The laps where you alter your line to optimize the cheater laps usually result in slower times. Those laps are referred to as "throw-away laps". Until someone comes up with a more favorable name, I guess that we're stuck "cheater lap". May be we can change it to "optimized single lap".
Mark: The only reason I thought it was a cheater lap is that the immediately preceding lap you were in the 15s while you were on the track by yourself. I didn't mean to imply that you did anything under handed or unsportsmanlike to get that lap. I'm just using the term that I've heard everyone, including yourself, call those kind of laps. :peace:
Either way... cheater lap or not cheater lap, that is an amazingly fast time for 205lbs.
Mark Hirt

Actually it's the lap after that is the tell
On lap 19 I took a break (I'm 49 ya know), on 20 I noticed the next lap was the white, tested something in the big sweeper and went maximum attack for the final lap.
lap 13 was a little slow (after my 14.89) cause I saw the 14:?? backwards in the screen and was too happy to care about that lap anymore

I guess I should update. My T2 time is getting faster, and I know exactly how to make it much faster, now I just need to find a day when there are open Arrive and Drives for T2. In the mean time though, I atleast broke into the 14s going counter:
1. Henry Khais
2. Kart #??
3. Track 2
4. Counter-Clockwise
5. 140 lbs
6. 14.97

Yeah it still sucks, but I know exactly what I was doing wrong, and I know how to correct it.
Um, I also did track 5 a couple of times going clockwise. I only ran it a few times and was my first time on that track, so my time isnt to good:
1. Henry Khais
2. Kart #??
3. Track 5
4. Clockwise
5. 140 lbs
6. 28.74
