Just got back from race . Didn't do too bad, but this is isn't about me.

Many people know Adam Schatz, great person all around. He was in VERY serious accident. Head on in concrete wall. Its not my job to give you info. I don't know 100% for sure. But he is the hands of the best head tramma surgean in Wisconsin. Please if you believe in the man up stairs, say a prayer or many for Adam and his family.

This tore me up! The half hour before race Adam and I were talking. Then I go out and race, on final lap a red flag situation came out full course red. Come around and see Adam face down on the pavement. One of the most horrific things to see and feel! Just a nice GOOD young man. Damn this sucks!!!

I heard about this at Norway today. It's very unfortunate and upsetting. I will pray for him and his family. Has anyone been in contact with his family?

His mother and father were there. I believe his Dad is one of the race directers. Don't quote me on that. The class was smaller on Sunday. This put many people in what if mode... If you know what I mean.
I may get ripped on this one, but bump drafting should be stopped in Road Racing. The top guys create a frieght train by drafting and getting the karts to travel faster than they would in an open situation. If you allow bump drafting EVERY kart should have rear bumpers period. Let man and kart win the race! Not man and frieght train. Sorry if you don't agree!

Let's hold off on the racing opinions and concentrate on Adam. He's one of my best friends at and away from the track. From what I hear, the prognosis is a little better than what was first reported but not much. I am planning on donating some cash soon, anyone else interested contact me through a PM.. and I will get you the info.

OK guys,

I don't think it is a good idea to give out the Schatz's address so let's mail donations to the CKT shop. Jim Perry will make sure to get the checks to the right place. As you can imagine, no matter what the outcome there are always extra costs and limits to what insurance will pay.

make checks out to Bill Schatz.

CKT address
2901 W. Main St.
St. Charles, IL 60175

Thanks for everyone who has expressed interest in helping. They are giving updates on Ekarting from David Cole in the roadracing forum.

To those of you who have not read the ekarting news thread on Adam. There is nothing more they can do to repair brain stem and upper spine. They are using the next day for family to say goodbye.
This is not the news we wanted to hear. Grace Schatz said to continue to pray for the family and Adam for this difficult time in there life.
Godspeed Adam you will not be forgotten!
