Congratulations to:

Peter Jankovskis and Greg Shebert, Winners - Lightweights
That's right, Lightweights! One pound below the cutoff. There were many teams out there that weighed less than Peter's helmet, also in the "lightweight" class, which makes their win that much more impressive.

Dave Harrington and Roberto Castro, Winners - Lard-asses
Just kidding - Heavyweights. In a questionable kart and with some nasty "it's just a racing thing" delays that fell their way, they persevered and won the Jenny Craig Class. Oops, there I go again.

Stan Bernacki and ??? (CTX Racing), Winners - Clubman
Please forgive me, ???, but I didnt't get to meet you and know your name. That nice chunky trophy, well deserved, will certainly not be your last.

Dave Mickelson - Fastest Lap of the Night
Not a category that receives a trophy, but at 29.86, against drivers 40 pounds or so his junior, a section of track should be named after him - or maybe a constellation.

Rick - Billiards King
I won the first game. Rick won the followning 732.
(I wish alchohol were an excuse, but he may have also defeated me at Track 4.)
However, I invite Rick, and any fool interested in straight-pool, to a Track 4 Billiards Enduro, anytime.

:blah: Comments:
Many thanks to Matt Palmieri for asking me to be his teammate, and not punching me out when I let him down. And thanks to his dad, Vince, for implementing what would have been a winning stradegy, had the older half of the team not driven so miserably.

Here we go (please unabashidly post your thoughts):

I though it was a top-notch event, however, I heard a few people gripe. Please look at it this way,

First of all,
Ignor all comments from those that gripe at all events at which they don't win.

Secondarily,
Remeber, this does not effect your ProScore, or your image in the minds of the beautiful women who work at CIR (who occupy my ever thought).

If a little kart spins you, or an adolescent driver pulls away, please don't overreact thereby detracting from a great sport. You started young. You started thin. Else, you started too late, or, like most of us, this is a passtime; don't do anything but support the kids that might eventually make it a career.

I tried hard; I had a lot of fun, didn't you?

Thanks for the compliments Martin. Greg and I are planning to eat more prior to the November enduro.

I'd like to pass some along to the drivers in the small karts, particularly #77. They drove consistent lines and were very courteous. Number 77 actually pointed me by on two occassions.

Actually, I should extend that to everyone that drove in the race. With an 18 kart field, it had the potential to get ugly. However, we all worked together and made it a very clean event.

well said martin and i agree...

the race was very clean for having 18 teams with considerably varied experience...

i think almost everyone got into some trouble at one point or another during the race... i know i did... but these things happen... it certainly wasn't due to over aggressive driving...

hopefully lots more lightweights & flyweights will come out next time and drop the cutoff weight even lower than last time :)... peter & i will need it to qualify for the heavy-weight class...

i'll still be dieting on pizza, fried mozerella sticks, & beer until then ;)

looking down the road... if CIR continues to run the enduro with weight classes, it might be nice to have some awards of some sort for 2nd & 3rd place for those classes... granted, everyone really wants only to win... but, it is nice to get that recognition that you made the podium after a hard fought race...

if it is a cost thing for CIR, i'd be willing to pitch in a little extra...

I agree with Greg on the trophy front. Three smaller trophies spread among three teams is probably better than one big trophy to one team, particularly when you have as many teams racing as we did Sunday night.

It would also have been nice to let all three winning teams take a formation victory lap. I think its pretty cool when the lightweight and heavyweight winners take a side-by-side victory lap after the end of the ironman races.

I'd also like to thank Greg for both driving and calling a good race.

Personally, I'm not a trophy kind of guy. Yes I'll take one if I earn one at National autocross event but after awhile one just gets too many. I have not tried yet but I'd imagine the plexy CIR hardware won't burn too well in my fireplace.

As for the race... Team MMR was done at like lap 45. I got caught up in one wreck (Roger that WAS not your corner and Luigi was not going to give it to you) and punted into another. later Rick got hit so hard that one of our wheels started to wobble. We switched karts but the replacement was actually slower then the broken one.

But I had fun

Very well put Martin. The racing, it was very fun... even though team MMR couldn't get a break on anything all night. Oh well, that's racing! Congratulations to all the winners!
