I would like to introduce a 'junior' DD2 class in the MPS. This is NOT a Rotax class and not a true 'junior' class because min age would be 14 or 15. It's more designed to accommodate the recreational racer and his/her son/daughter. The class weight would be 340-350 so they wouldn't have to add 30 - 40lbs of lead to make the 385 DD2 class weight. What do you guys think? pros? cons?

Don't everyone type at once :attention: :grinno:
One concern is the high hp of the DD2 in the hands of a 14yr old might be asking for trouble. Well, if the kid has never raced before I wouldn't recommend starting in a DD2, but if the kid is Timmy Megenbier or Conner Daly, I'm sure you'll agree they wouldn't have a problem. The other thing is, just like any new MPS member, I schedule either a school or test day with them to evaluate their driving skill so if they can't handle it, they won't be racing.
If I had a kid, I'd consider it. What about your kids Phil? I thought your daughter was racing an RM1 last year.

My son and I use to kart together but now he is too big for karts....6'1" 270lbs so he and I are putting together a Civic for him to do auto-crossing. My daughter will be practicing in an RM1 this year but I'm not sure if she'll be racing...we'll see. I'm leaving it up to her.
