While visiting a subordinate Army unit in Missouri I made a trip to Sadler’s Indoor Racing. Here is their web site. http://www.sadlersindoorracing.com.
My first impression was not great. After going to Chicago Indoor Racing most places seem low budget. Their facility was unlike CIR or F1. We watched a video on an old big screen TV right by the concession stand. The track seemed dark and dirty. The helmets were worn out and only one or two of them had shields on them. The neck braces stayed with the kart so they we often wet from sweat. The barricades were the simple car tires with the plastic barrier. On the positive side the track was long and complex. The surface was a little slick and there was some drifting going on. The karts were pretty fast too. We averaged 46 mph and 36 seconds a lap. The prices were reasonable, but strange. I paid $36 for 15 minutes. The longer you go the cheaper per minute. They would actually turn on the yellow and flag people off while you were driving. They would also let drivers on the track while you were racing. Weird. They also offer 50% off for Military and Law Enforcement. I got two 15 minute races for $36. After 45 minutes (3 races) I was pretty spent. Their timing system was not great. I think it times to the nearest quarter second or so. There were two guys there with rib protectors, “Stars of Karting” T-shirts, and painted helmets. Their best lap was 35.20, which was the best of the day at closing time. My best lap was a 35.84 and I had a few at that same mark. They do not use OSKAR but someone said they had a new timing system on the way and it would be installed soon.
I would recommend this place if you are in the area. Bring your own helmet and collar if you can.
