The Midwest Motorsports Festival is a two day event, Oct 11-12, for cars, bikes, and Karts. With track time available for all, this gives everyone a chance to see how the 'other side' plays, and get some track time for TAGs and Shifters. With live bands Saturday evening/night and camping, this should be a good time.

I'm involved with the karting side of things, and helping to put together the on-track race. We are looking for TAG racers for a race, and Shifter racers for a 'Shootout' Challenge that pays serious money.

TAG: Running CES TAG Senior rules, you'll get an hour of practice bright and early Saturday morning, and a 20 minute race at noon on Sunday in front of a couple thousand expected race enthusiasts. AutoMeter is providing some top notch trophies.

SHIFTER: One of the features of the weekend is finding the quickest Car, Bike, and Kart to do a one-at-a-time qualifing style run off. Obvioiusly shifters will out run the TAGs pretty handily, and are the best bet for this. At 5pm on Sunday the top car/bike/kart get top stage to see who posts fast time, with handicap system. The top kart is assured to go home with $500 plus trophies and prizes, even if you don't beat the car or bike, and $2500 plus trophies and prizes if you win it all.

There is room for 40 tag karts, so I don't expect to run out. Considering there are 25ish in Sr and Hvy at a normal CES weekend, and some run twice.

I'm going to be too busy staffing our display, hosting the race, and putting on a 'Karting 101' seminar to drive. You guys get all the fun...

I know there is a price break for early entry, can't remember the deadline right off.

Anyone know where I can rent a 250cc superkart (http://www.ekartingnews.com/viewtopic.php?p=454647#454647) for less than $2500?

I've run a 1:12 and change with my shifter. I'm sure there will be some smoking fast cars and bikes, but we'll stand proud.

The Shootout is handicapped for time, so you won't need the 250... Just put up fast time so you are the quickest kart.

I'm in for sure. I think Bill will go to. I will register Monday. $40 is a good deal. Guess I have to get some DDM's for race.
Thats fast Andy on the shifter kart. This year i thought someone had a 1:14 in Tag at CES. Thought that was quick! I think my best was 1:19 and change. Andy you going to help us Concept guys out!!! :kungfu:

Now need to figure out what to do with the dog!

Should be a fun night of stupidity too!:shooting_smilie2:

Should be no problem Ryan. The TAG race begins at noon on Sunday.

To bad this was cancelled. Should of made it a kart only event. My opinion but the Illinois/Wisconsin area should have a late season Road Race. Rain or shine! Its so costly to travel 10 hours or more to southern events. Maybe one more late in the year in the thing to do now the way economy is!

Yeah Jeff, I'm bummed too. I'd put a lot of effort into this, and it was coming together nicely.

The big issue is that it was planned by the promoter as a car/bike/kart event, with karts not the biggest part of things. More of a show for us to be seen in.

And the car and bike guys didn't show up.

The promoter has mentioned that he may try this in 09 sometime, and the karts are the only group to live up to predictions. We should have a spot again if it happens.

That might have been the corkage fee.
