Hi Tony...
Since I know you read the boards occasionally, I was wondering when you'll be setting up that outdoor track at CIR that you've been telling us about? ;)
If you need some help with the track layout, I'm sure that many of us can pitch in some ideas!! You might need to be willing to sacrifice a few parking spaces for the summer though :). Personally, I'd like to see the world's first combined indoor/outdoor track with a nice ramp that transitions from outside to inside that we can catch a little air on :).
A track like that would be ideal for the upcoming 1500-lap enduro ;)
Cheers,

Greg and Tony,
Hey, since you are talking about a ramp, how about some banked turns too!!! :thumb1:
1500 laps, would that include pit stops with tire changes?? :drive:
If it rains does it change the track to a slick track??
And since it would be outdoors would there be a BEER tent??
(the tent would be for Martin)

There are enough people that think it's NASCAR now. Do we really need to fuel their passion.
As for rain... Most American drivers would not even race. The NASCAR mentality inbread into us makes us believe the banking is too dangerous when it's raining.
Factoid... Banking causes water to run off leaving the surface just damp. No puddles = no rain tires, damp track + warm slick = grip.
Comment: NASCAR has tested rains on several occasions, I'll assume the tests failed because of the softer compound and aggressive tread molded into the tire. In other words the tread pattern that channels out the water (remember the corners are banked) would generate so much heat that they would de-laminate in a couple laps.
But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong

You're absolutely right....rain tires are only needed if it is raining and the track is very wet. I can't tell you how many guys I've seen burn up new rain tires because they just don't get it.
Damp track? .... keep on the slicks, strap on a set of steel balls and go race.

This would make for an exciting new track postion!! :yea: Which i'm totally
for. Would'nt mind stading outside flagging for a couple hours watching races.
Plus it would attract people passing by. My main concern would be that the CTO
might not be able to see out there, and that might be an issue. Other than that I
think that it would be alot of fun.
