With gas prices coming down. Just wondering if the cost of race fuel has gone down? Be nice to get back down to $5 a gallon or less!
Anyone help on this? Guess if you have a batch from last year it wouldn't have gone down.(supplier)
If you buy new supply this year maybe it has come down in price. Lets hope.

Be better this year. Last year, cost $80, to get to and from track in SUV with trailer. This year half of that. If prices dont go crazy in the summer. All this helps. Hope this helps to get people out.

I agree. Like you said it adds up quickly. I remember last year going to the mx track, 50 for the truck, 30 for the bike, 30 track fee, etc...

Jefff, ever thought of buying a Smart with a roof rack for the kart?

How much fuel do you guys go through in a weekend? I know it is depended on how much you run and such but is a nice full day of practice 2-3 gallons?

You'll only burn about 1 gal per day. Less than two for sure for a single driver.

Haven't heard about any pricing yet. I know that race fuel did not increase as much as pump gas last year.

Looks like we'll be able to do it for you! Fuel went down some, and should be under $50/can.

Thanks Andy for the info. So its like $8 a gallon, cause the can itself is $10.
Isn't that the same as last year? No big deal. I know you have to buy a can everytime. Didn't think it came down. Though it seems like it should. I saw Vp race fuel was the same as last year.

Arno, you may go through 2 to 3 gal in practice.
Like you said it depends on how many laps you turn.
Road Race weekend you need 10 gal. Depending if you race twice a day.
Go through almost 80% of a full tank in a race. About 2 gallons.

Andy, you guys ever think about going the way of the 55 gal drum? Then have empty 5-gal cans. Still pay the $10, but keep the can usable and just re-fill. Could save a few bucks a gallon this way. Or is that against say a fire code issue? Like needing it as a pump product with an under ground tank?

Just me thinking.

Hey Rick, how about buying a 55 gal. drum. I will split with you and keep in your fancy garage down there?:clap:

Jeff, the 5 gal can is a lot better than 55 gal. it used to be that way a few years ago. I remember waiting in line for somebody that spilled or whatever.

Andy........HELP.........I would like to see local racing on pump gas. I am running 2 karts with practice and race that's a lot of fuel at least 3.5 gal. per day. Kind of getting back to my rant on getting more racers to the field and I am not going to give up.

If you're cheap like me, you can go to U-Save Gas in Glendale Heights and buy the same gas, Sunoco Standard Leaded Race Fuel, 110 octane, out of a pump for $5.00 to $6.00 a gallon. I've been doing it for the last six years and have never failed tech anywhere. The initial reason I did it was because I hate the five gallon cans, they're a pain to pour from. They normally don't carry it until sometime in May and run out around September or October. I always buy enough to make it through the season, the stuff lasts at least a year. You can also call 1-800-RACE-GAS, that's Sunoco, and they'll tell you the nearest distributor.

I tried the Race fuel at a Citgo in Fox Lake thats 110 lead. It works and passes the test. Doesnt say what kind of fuel it is as I dont think Citgo has there own race fuel. Not sure if they are affiliated with Sunoco. JUst says Race Fuel 110 octane.

I bought race fuel from a Speedway, it was oxygenated. Did not pass test! Have to be careful!
But your right a heck of alot cheeper. As the cost was $5.25 a gallon. Then went to $6 at the end of year. Trouble with me is if Im not going that way its not a deal. With gas prices so high last year. It cost the same in savings as it did in the cost in gas to get back and forth!
Did that make any sence!!!:meant:

Jim, why is fuel better out of a 5 gal can and not 55 gal drum? Same fuel right! Know a retail guy in Waukeegan at a performance shop and he sells alot of re-fills out of 55 gal drums. Its fresh to me cause he goes through it. Many times there are other people getting fuel when Im there. Plus I check for stuff like that (it sitting for to long). I dont want to get the last drop out of the drum, but does it matter?

Thanks Jeff

Jeff, it is convenient in the 5 gal container, yes same fuel. When I fill my mix can I use an outboard motor fuel line with a primer ball in line to transfer the fuel from the 5 gal into the mix can. A couple of pumps will get the siphon going no mess no spill. I also use that same hose to take fuel out of the kart at the end of race day.
