I'll be at Norway on Wednesday 4/12/06 shaking down the RM1 and a couple shifters (mod moto and ICC) with 2 or 3 MPS members, if the weather is good.

Can anyone else make it out?

I wish.

I'm hoping to get out Saturday or Sunday though. This past weekend was just too cold.

Saturday is a slim chance but Sunday I can't because I'm leaving for Phoenix...doing a racing school at Bondurant.....woohoo :4: 3days in the Corvette and 1 day in their open wheel cars.....1st time in an open wheel race car for me so I'm looking forward to it.

We'll hook up soon enough though....season is young.

Hi Phil

That sounds awesome! :)

Norway will be closed Sunday anyways due to Easter. It's not even clear yet if they will be open Saturday. Andy is supposed to post something on the website today or tomorrow as soon as he finds out what they are going to do.

Hey Guys-

Practice will be open on Friday and Saturday. Friday is normal 10am - dark hours if you have the day off, and Saturday is 10am - 6pm.

Enjoy your Easter.

It looks like rain on Wednesday. Do you allow practice on a wet track?

I spoke with Phil yesterday, but thought I'd post FYI.

We don't restrict practice based on weather. If you're up for it, we'll sit in the dry shop and let you go. :D

For the local racing, we try to keep things easier and more affordable. I know that is a relative term sometimes in racing, but the effort goes a long ways to keeping your hobby sustainable on a budget.

If you run in the rain, you'll need to clean all the bearings and machined surfaces. Make sure to put a hood on the airbox so you don't suck water. Put a deflector of some sort in front of the brake disc to keep the water from drenching it. If you run in any sort of drying conditions, the tires will be gone after the day. Narrow the rear all the way, and set the front width to match it.

These issues add to the expense and frustration for the local level karter on a budget. In my experience, thats most of us... If we spend the money to go regional or national level racing, expect to run in the wet. Nothing worse than driving several hundred miles and springing for hotels, etc to be rained out. I remember driving all the way to Daytona for the road racing, only to be rained out two of three days. UGGG.

One tip: If you practice in the rain with a half used set of rain tires, you'll learn car control like you never get a chance to in the dry. Smiles all around the next time you make that perfect pass under braking into the hairpin...

You will be surprise of how much grip the track has already!!!

I was amazed with the grip on Wednesday myself......I had a blast. The best part was signing in and being greated by smiles. Les and his wife really made me feel good about spending my money there. I bought the season practice pass...$250..... unlimited practice....not a bad deal....I know I'll get my money's worth :4:
