Hey Everyone
I am new to Karting, i just bought a PCR Shifter Kart with a Yamaha moto engine with some aftermarket upgrades.
I was just wondering what is more beneficial to know/monitor while racing and WHY...Cylinder Head Temp (CHT) or Exhaust Gas Temp (EGT)??? The reason i am wondering is because i am going to install a Mychron 3 Plus into my kart in a couple days and i was wondering which one i should install in combination with the coolant temp.
Also, if you guys could give me some hints as to what normal operating temperatures are, and what dangerous temperatures are for the engine coolant, CHT, and EGT, that would be great because i would like to monitor them so i dont blow my engine my fist time out on the track...
Thanks and i look forward to posting on this forum and the upcoming karting season!!
