Anyone else having "lock up" problems with their MyChron4?
Mine acts like the engine is still running after it's off, and doesn't allow any pushbutton inputs.

Martin:
I have an Alfano and never have problems with it.
But I like the MyChron 4, and it suppost to be a great gauge.
Have you called tech support for help?

The tech-support from AiM / MyChron has been fantastic.
I emailed some general questions to them when I first
picked up the gauge. Their response was immediate and
detailed.
Last night, just before starting this thread, I emailed to
them regarding the problem. Today I received a sincere
and thorough reply from their vice president, Mike McKnight.
They are shipping a new one to me on Friday.
I thought about Alfano, but I really like AiM's analysis software.

Most guys would agree with you on the Mychron analysis software. I believe they have an edge over Alfano in that dept. When they work they're great, and Mike is first class when it comes to customer service but I bought a Gold and had nothing but problems with it. I tried everything they recommended but never got it to work Finally Mike had me send it back to him and he found out it had a bad circuit board. He repaired it n/c but by then I had switched to Alfano.

Sorry to be redundant, but the folks at AiM have been first rate.
My MyChron-4 now works perfectly, and it is "spectacular".
Make a couple loops of RPM lead-wire around your spark-plug wire
(see article on their site) and keep current with their free and easy
newsletter/downloads and you're good to go.
Thanks to all at AiM. Nice product - great service.

That sounds like a motherboard problem. I had the same thing happen while we were at Daytona road race to my MyChron 4 with E-box. Right before a days race the MyChron locked up and would not take any input. Aim's track people were there and they worked on it for an hour and finally replaced the internal motherboard for free and go me back on the track.
If you go to a WKA Nationally sponsored road race event there are normally two MyChron field reps on site. The one I dealt with, Aaron Byrd, was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. His boss, MyChron Mike, is also easy to approach via the internet on Aim's site. But having access to one of their reps on track is even better.

We had an issue with a Mychron 4 at the Man. Cup race at South Bend last year. Mike McKnight came over and replaced our gauge on the spot.....he also followed up with us more than once during the weekend to make sure everything was ok.....great service.
