My son who is 8 years old recently finished the driving school. I was very impress with the school!
I think he did well... His fastest lap was 18.52. I thought it was good for his first time though not sure. How accurate is the timing on the cars? At one point, I thought he was in first place and pretty much lapped the rest of the field. Then it said he was in second place. He almost passed who was in first place on the start/finish line. I remember cars were given a little box which tells the lap times though not the number of laps.

Should I keep him in the leagues or just schedule some practice time? I guess I thought about getting him in the junior league though was not sure for the cost if it was worth doing or not. I have to say he had alot of fun racing out there. I would think the mostly just get him some seat time.

in the past, I have thought about getting him into outdoor racing when he is older. The indoor racing seems better price than buying a kart and heading out to the tracks.

I don't know anything about the Junior stuff.

The timing on the karts from what I've experienced is great. My guess is that the race that you were watching was one that was based on best lap time rather than position. All Arrive & Drive style races at CIR are ranked by best lap rather than position.

I would strongly recommend that you have your son race in the Jr. Leagues at CIR. My son started racing at CIR about 4.5 years ago when he attended the Jr. Driving School. He now races outdoors and indoors. In my opinion, there is no better way for your son to learn how to race than CIR. The pricing is more than fair when you consider what you would spend putting your son in a kart outdoors. Sign up for the leagues and enjoy watching your son improve every weekend. If you are interested in racing outdoors down the road, your son will be well prepared to compete from his experiences at CIR.
