Would like to know if anyone has a yamaha kt can engine and would like to run in a sr can class at concept haulers.
We are no longer going to race HPV heavy and are trying to see if there are others who would race a sr yamaha class. If not, we are going to have to go to another track. We would prefer to run at norway but without other entries it is not possible.
Why are you guys getting out of HPV?!
Have you considered TAG?

We have a tag engine that is at comet for rebuild. Have not thought about that. maybe a good idea if there is nobody interested in kt sr class.
As far as HPV heavy goes....
My kids will never race in that class again.

Rick
Can't run TAG with our chassis we have. Yamaha can is it.
HPV 4... don't want to discuss that on a forum. Nothing to do with the black flag though. I will say I wish we had never participated in that class.

you didnt miss anything. Just want to run yamaha class if possible. Who knows, if enough tag drivers are starting to come out, maybe that would be good place to start.
Are you talking about HPV as a whole? Or just HPV at CHMS?

Rick
Haven't had anyone interested in yamaha sr can it appears. After talking to my boys it is late in the season and we are just going to finish it out. Will decide what to do next year.
As far as HPV goes and why I wish I hadn't started there....just don't know how to make improvements. Just go slower every week compared to the leaders and it is frustrating when you don't make some progress...

Mike,
It is easy and biased for me to say this but like Rick, I would recommend going to TAG. If anything, TAG seems to be such a better race environment (I can only speak for the races I have watched in the past, and Saturday's race). From my perspective, they racers are more mature, usually, more respectful, the don't want to break stuff (they are paying for their own stuff), and want to go to work the next week... seems like HPV people don't care about that kind of stuff.
Is TAG more expensive to run? Probably but it doesn't have to be. If you watch your budget, keep up with maintenance (which you guys are good at), etc... it can be very similar money wise to running an HPV. The technology between the two is not that far apart at all. I can give you excatly what I have spent this season on my set up and such. I know I don't race but I try to go out there once a week to run, not totally the same as race cost but similar I think.
You say you can't run the chassis you have in TAG, are you talking about that Margay? Isn't that thing done anyways? (cracked?)
It would be great for your guys to race in TAG to 1) get a better turn out, 2) I truly believe you will also enjoy it more then HPV.
Thats just my opinion.... others will tell you differently... just make sure you don't jump the gun on anything ;) :)

BTW: What was that black flag thing? I saw Jeff jump up and down screaming (not too suprised ;) ) but I didn't inquire into what happened.

Arno, Not to sure exactly what u are trying to say in your first paragraph.
Mike,
This is my third year racing HPV and it is by far the most competitive class at Norway- At least it has been up until recently. I am still a half second off what the lead guys are running in terms of lap times. Most of the front runners have been racing out there for 7-10 years. Experience is why they are always up front. After my first year I bought a Birel/Leopard as it appeared alot of other people were going that direction and with my weight dis advantage it would also make me more competitive. Well, racing against 2 or 3 other people was pretty boring so now I am only racing the HPV out there. Dont give up on the HPV just yet. It is a great class.

I have talked to kyle about switching. We are going tommorrow to purchase a new kart for him and he is leaning towards a yamaha/hpv 100 cc model. Maybe I can find a used tag chassis this winter. We have a leopard that is being rebuilt right now.

I have a First Kart for sale you can drop that Leopard right on and go race TaG ! Let me know. I already told you the price ! That kart works great in TaG class. I have proven that this season in the Rt 66 Series. You can always get Rick to help you tune it. He said he is all set to tune after what he has learned this season. Then you have 2 options all the time and you can always throw a can on either one of them. No special chassis needed for Sr Can ! You know where to find me.
Jeff, Arnoud told me you were selling a chassis for $2000. Is that the one? As far as tuning goes, I think I only know the basics right now. But I have definitely learned a lot from Les and Route 66 this year.

No, not mine. I know of a 2009 First Kart that is selling for $2400 though, and he has an 09 that is also selling for $2000 that has a few races on it. I am selling mine for $1300. It will be available after the Robo Pong. Not sure about the Rotax yet. It may be a package deal or seperate, not sure yet.
