I was looking at helmet cams on the internet and would like anybody who has one to give me your input. I will be used for road racing.
Do you like yours?
Helmet mount or front bumper mount, which makes better videos?
Digital cam or film, which is better.
I'm leaning toward the chasecam.com websight.

I think Peter J has one already but I don't know what kind or model.
I know quite a few Autocrossers that use Chasecam (http://chasecam.com/), they seem to like it. Great images, cheap price.

i've seen some that mount on the roll cage cross bar right behind the front seats...
those are kinda nice because you can watch your hands & even feet move if the view is wide enough...

It's not bright enough in the foot well to see your feet IF the camera is looking out the windshield too. In most cases same goes for your hands.

I have a Sony 480 res. color helmet cam. It gives great pictures and comes standard with a slight fish eye lens (wide angle). I have used it a CIR a couple of times. I can show you some of the results. The only thing is, that in low light it switches to black and white to maintain the image light level. (black and white requires less light?) It doesn't seem to do this at CIR.
I use a digital camcorder to record the images. The camera kit comes with a powered hi-gain mic. A little to powerful for our purposes. It distorts at CIR with the engine/wind noise. A friend of mine uses a cheap mic from Radio Shack. It works good. I can show you some video/sound from that set up.
I'll look at the paperwork tonight and post the web site. ~$225

This one looks like big $$$$$, but check out AIM's (Mychron3) DaVid Data/Video recorder at http://www.aim-sportline.com. It combines all the MyChron3 type data on the two-camara/split-screen video!
Neat stuff, probably costs more than a Kart.
