Roberto
I'll be racing my Kart Mini CR125 shifter in G1 and S1.
I am assuming this is your first time at the Rock...you're going to have a blast.
See you there.

Where is everyone staying? I'm staying at the Four Points. Maybe after checking in Friday night we could all meet for supper.
FYI Mario has a reservation at the Four Points and will not be going. If anyone would like that room give Mario or myself a call.

I'll be in TAG Senior driving the bright orange Birel. #2 if I get my first choice for number.
Roberto and I will be in the big white tent in the pits. Stop by and say hi if you guys get a chance!
For anyone watching, most of our spectators from Marshalltown like the bleachers outside of turn 4 (the right hander) the best. You'll find several JET fans hanging around there.

Hey guys...we are at the Rock Island GP!
Roberto qualified 14th out of 45 in TAG Masters...ran a lap that would have qualified on pole last year.
Stefan qualified 16th in ICC & 22nd in King of the Streets - he is toughing out some rib problems....very bumpy track.
Andy Finke qualified 22nd in TAG Senior....out of 54.
All did a great job...verycompetitive fields and track. Just keeping it out of the barriers is an accomplishment here. It could get even more interesting today as showers are expected this afternoon. I can think of a few better places to learn how to race in the rain!
Thanks for the update! Hope no one crashes!

I had a very interesting weekend. The motor was sucking air somewhere and kept seizing the piston after just one lap. Long story short, after replacing every fuel line, fuel pump and changing jets a million times, in addition to rebuilding the motor 3 times, I packed it up and went home. On the positive side, I didn't crash
See you there next year.
Man that sucks Phil. Sorry to hear that your weekend was ruined due to mechanical problems.

We just got home from Rock Island....
Roberto finished 7th in TAG Masters! Had worked his way up to 5th and it started to drizzle lightly.....Roberto wasn't getting rain on his visor and didn't know it was raining..... looped it two turns from the finish......recovered and finished 7th. He was flying out there against some serious competition.....(43 drivers).
Stefan wasn't able to race because of his ribs.....was black and blue but he made a great effort....looked great in practice against some of the top shifter drivers.
Andy Finke started 23rd in TAG Senior and had worked his way up through the field to around 14th...unfortunately he got into the barriers and wasn't able to continue.
We had a great time! It was a fantastic weekend and amazing event! I hope even more of you are able to make it out next year!

Thanks Rick!
As Dave said it was an amazing weekend. Thank you Dave and Brennan for your help this weekend :) I think it was a good idea to bring the "cougar" to Rock Island
The event is one of a kind! Drivers from all over the country and some international drivers as well.
I also would like to say THANK YOU to Les and Andy from Jet Karting for the great job with the kart. Chassis and engine were amazing, thank you guys!! :)
I am defenitely going back next year!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Roberto  That is awesome man...very competitive class and you would have had a 5th place finish if not for the rain.
Sorry to hear about Andy and Stefan.
Rick...yea it sucked that my weekend ended up like that. I should have followed my mind and had my motor rebuilt before the race. To add insult to injury, the two guys I beat last year ended up 1st and 2nd. Oh well, I'll be there next year. Like Roberto said, I hope more guys make it out next year.
Roberto, did you remember to book your room for next year at the Four Points?

Were you thinking of racing or just coming out to watch?

Just to watch.
I think I'll be ready for next year (to race).
I should fetch a good price for my Vintage Birel at Barrett-Jackson, then I'll buy a DD2.
Can you race an RM1/DD2 at Rock Island?

If we start campaigning now for the RM1 class at RI, it may be possible to get it on the roster for next year. It will take a solid field of 25 to 30 entries to make it happen though. You can count on my entry if you make the proposal to Roger.
