A little birdie told me he's coming after you Roberto :grinno:
So Martin, is the new rocket going to be ready for this weekend? Even if it's faster than your old Birel, you know it's not going to be fast enough for you. Why don't you rent one of my DD2's and race with us. You can pull double duty can't you? I think Rick wants a piece of you :evil_lol:

Yup, Roberto... it's being assembled as I type. However, we may have a bit of a problem with our "stock" Leopards. Did you notice that four TaG's in the first race of the season, in less than perfect conditions, beat Phil Ley's best time in their first race?

Martin,
That is the "problem" and hidden secret of TaG around the country; a class that it was suppose to be "stock" out of the box package, got into the game of the engine builders. Phil Lay was also using an engine that was not out of the box, I was there when Steve Jacobsen told him that he could not race that Leopard at Norway because it was not stock.
Other people were using "carbon reeds"; the carbon reeds give you better performance.

So, I am not really happy about it....but I guess that is the direction TaG is going.
I would not be able to go this weekend....but I will try to go the next one.
Good luck!

Also, a really good driver running TaG....can put a lap on the 46's......take a look at the lap times from CSSS from last year......
Remember that Norway really didn't have a TaG class the last couple years.....:) ......and I am glad to see that now CHMS has a formal TaG class running

From what you have stated, it sounds like the "spec" class is becoming more lenient in it's definition of "spec". Martin already told me about the blue printed engines and their alleged higher performance. I hope that TAG does not turn out to be a race of wallets more than a race of skill. That would be unfortunate. Especially considering how much the class has grown at CHMS. It is clearly more popular than Rotax DD2 at CHMS at this point in time.
Are you going to get your engine blue printed?

Roberto, from what I've heard, WKA, SKUSA, TaGUSA, etc, all have their own rules on what can be done to an engine. Is it possible that the 46.2 guy was built to a different spec? The next fastest in the race you posted was 46.8's... they did that today at Norway.
Congratulations on 2nd place Martin!

Thanks, Rick... but, I must explain:
Two of the Leopards from two weeks ago weren't there this weekend. Another (a very talented driver, in my opinion) stuck his motor.
Hence 2nd place.:frown:

Martin,
They are probably running high RPM's ; I have heard of people at Norway running 16.5 and over. It's fast but there is a lot of risk.

I overheard 16,200 from one of them. They also gear differently for the feature than the heats, probably to save the engine a bit. They're all a lot faster in the heats.

Could it be because of their starting position in the heats vs the feature? When I race with a lot of karts in the field, if I start in or near the rear, I would run a lower ratio for quicker acceleration for passing. If I started up front, I would run a higher ratio and try to run away from the field. Could this be the strategy they're using?

Is your new kart ready yet? When will you breaking it in? Did you ever figure out what was wrong with the old one?

I haven't fixed the Vintage Birel, yet. I don't know what's broken. I do know that my fear of coming in last is no longer a fear: I'd gladly take last over a DNS.

I second that.
