I read in National Karting News that you normally want to increase front track to reduce understeer. Phil told me that I want to move the front track in (not out). Now I'm confused. All things being equal, should widening the front track result in an increase or decrease in understeer?

Rick,

Widening the front track should decrease understeer,
however there are a lot of changes and combinations involved in kart chassis tunning.
Here are some basics that can help you; this is probably the best kart set-up guide in the kart industry. No other kart manufacturer has anything like this.

Enjoy! :D

 :D Thanks, this is going to be very helpful. Are there any good books on kart chassis tuning? I have Memo's book but it doesn't have as much detail as I would like.

Not that I know, this should be enough,
Just make changes and try! Remember to make just one change at a time

get a GOOD air gauge

Thanks Roberto! I already have a longacre oil filled air pressure gauge. It goes from 0-60psi though. Maybe I will get one that only goes to 30psi. :D

I think if my Uncle Bill ever loses it my dad will have him dumped in a lake somewhere.
