So I just finished painting my first helmet (well actually I am doing two at once). It is not perfect by far but I am happy with it. I used automotive paints, with a good amount of clear coats. It has a Belgium theme to it because I have a Belgium passport (parents), and the colors go well with my kart (well, that could change, hopefully!)

If anybody is interested in getting a helmet painted (fairly basic designs), I would love to do it for the cost of paint!

Here are some pictures. It is harder then I thought to take pictures of helmets like these without getting a lot of glares and flashbacks!

Very cool! Looks great for a first attempt! I like the sharpie art too. How long did it take? How many coats of paint? BTW, I thought you were French. What's up with the German colors?

Thanks Rick! It took me about a month off and on. I made some mistakes at first so I had to started back over twice (had to go back to the primer, doh!). Now with my "experience" I could it do fairly quickly.

I consider myself French because I was born there and grew up there, but my parents are Belgium. In Europe, if your parents are a different nationality then your country of birth you can choose which country of citizenship. So that's why on paper, I am Belgian. The Belgium flag is like the german flag but vertical, like the front of the helmet.

Yup Rick. Thonon is awesome. I figured if I get a helmet in those colors, the skills will just come with it.

Wow. I'm amazed you did that on your own. Looks professional.

I have a Bell M3 myself. I got a good price on White but have always wanted flat black. How hard is the masking off/prep process? I would definitely pay you if you were up for helping me make my design idea a reality.
