Roberto, Brennan, Andy Dunne, and I went to the RoboPong.com 200 lap TAG race at New Castle last weekend. It was an unbelievable event at an awesome facility. New Castle is by far the nicest facility I have seen.....great track design, super smooth track surface, great clubhouse(with great food and wireless internet)...etc....etc. We all need to try to get there next year to check it out. There was over 80 teams entered in the event with 56(yes 56!) karts making the final. There were numerous professional drivers that raced...Dan Wheldon, Tomas Sheckter, Scott Dixon, Katherine Legge, Sarah Fisher, Jeff Simmons, Jay Howard, and Ricky Rudd to name a few. Many of the karting world's big names were there....Kyle Wiegand, Johnny Johnson, Adam Johnson, Brandon Bealer, Caleb & Tony Loniewski, Brandon Adkins, Timmy Megenbier, Conor Daly, Eric Morrow, Paulie Harraka etc...etc.. Ricky Rudd and Paulie Harraka won the event by being fast, staying out of trouble, and not having any mechanical problems. Another unbelievable thing to see was Kyle Wiegand driving one handed for the last 40 laps because of a broken throttle cable....he had one hand on the carb! This is an event that we will definitely be headed back to next year! Here is a gallery of some photos from the event:
