I just finished my second helmet painting (actually third as I just need to clear my motocross helmet), but this is my first "customer" helmet. It's a bicycle helmet which is different from the usual auto/moto helmets. Which also made it a lot harder. It belongs to a buddy of mine from the Saab92x forums.
He wanted mostly "sharpie" style with whatever else I wanted to put in there. The small surface made it a lot harder to work with. Overall it went pretty well. I do wish I had a smaller tipped paint pen to do sharper detailed work.
I did have one small problem. When I did the first coat of clear, the underlayed sharpie marker started streaking in a couple places. For some initial designs I used a fine tip real sharpie, then went over it with the paint pens. So I was really pissed that it streaked a bit. Another lesson learned the hard way :(
The helmet is missing some of its pieces like the visor and such, which were removed by the owner.
