View Full Version : Halloween Race Results
Congratulations to Brennan Harrington for winning his class! All the CIR juniors drove exceptionally well!
Congrats to Roberto and the "Stig" for fastest TAG lap! Unfortunately, Roberto's kart was in several pieces through out the race due to several incidents. It was definitely a crazy race!
Due to fear of injury before a big national race, Stefan decided not to race. It must be a stipulation in his contract somewhere. I have a feeling they would have won the whole thing by 2 or 3 laps if they raced, since no one was posting laptimes anywhere near Martin's averages. I'm not entirely sure of the official results, but I think Matt P. and Stefan raced in Yamaha Supercan and won (someone please confirm).
Phil's bad luck streak continued as he stuck his shifter motor in practice. He spent all day fixing it then he stuck it in the race. But on the flipside, he drove my DD2 amazingly well in the 100 lap race, even with our engine/ignition cutting out on us on the exit of the Monza.
It was fun seeing everyone! :D
See you guys tommorow night! :D

Congratulations to all who survived the 100 lapper and especially to my team mate Rick for an incredible start. He felt so bad about destroying the competition on the start, he pulled over and waved by 4 karts :diablotin: Even with a two pit stop strategy we managed to win overall due to some help from the top teams making unscheduled pit stops, mostly to apply duct tape.
Rick, thanks for letting me team up with you for the 100 lapper, it was a great end to a disastrous season for me.

They would've definitely been the team to beat but we would've given them a run for their money.
Top ten reasons why Martin and Stefan didn't race:
10) Martin was hung over
9) Stefan wasn't awake yet
8) The CRG/DD2, Rick and Phil team was just too itimidating
7) Roberto's mystery team mate looked scary fast
6) Stefan couldn't fit his drivers suit over his hooded sweat shirt
5) Martin was sweating in his single layer suit
4) They couldn't decide on who should start
3) Stefan couldn't reach the pedals
2) Stefan's PCR contract forbids him to drive another brand
And the #1 reason why Martin and Stefan didn't race is:
1) Martin boycotted the race because they wouldn't substitute beer for his coke in the Hot dog and coke race.

I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to Brennan Harrington. I saw Brennan getting in a kart for the first time about a year and a half ago; and it was really nice to see him drive and race the way he did yesterday :) Congratulations Brennan

The pizza was great and Pete is pretty cool. I've been going to Norway for years and didn't even know they were there. I enjoyed the conversation and hanging with you guys. We will have to do that again.

Contact = Damage = Bad
Roberto you're right it was a crash fest. Half of the race looked like this to me:

Surprisingly, there were no black flags. :screwy:
Thank god our team wasn't involved in anything like that. It was scary! Maybe next year I'll take your advice and race in this class:

I think the problem was racing different classes together (diference in HP)
but also they were people out there in Animal,Tag and HPV that had no idea on how to drive a kart
Most of the accidents happened because the different levels of racers but that is racing you have to be alert for any type of driver in front of you

I agree 100%. Drivers are the biggest part of the equation in making a race safe or unsafe. Our team was one of the few teams that did not have any incidents and we had the highest powered and fastest kart on the track. Running different classes can be and have been done safely at other tracks so I don't believe that is the problem. CHMS needs to monitor rough driving closely and impose penalties to control it. I watched guys deliberately pounding on the kart in front of them to move them out of the way in a turn so they could get by. To be fair, I was on the track for about 60 laps so I only watched about 40 of the 100 laps, but I didn't see one black flag while I was watching.

It was more my decision than Stefan's. I encouraged him not to race. If I really wanted to race, Stefan would have done it. If he would have aggrevated his previous injuries I would have felt pretty bad.
He didn't fit right into my seat, and I have first-hand experience on what that can do to previously injured ribs. Plus, we all knew it was going to be a rugby match out there.

You guys made the right decision.

Was it like that last year too? If it's going to be like that next year, I might have second thoughts too. I'm going to have to get one of these next year: Spidi Airbag Jacket (http://www.gizmag.com/go/1431/) :D
<!--QuoteBegin-http://www.gizmag.com/go/1431/
The concept of airbags has saved many lives in car accidents but the inherent vulnerability of the motorcyclist is difficult to address. The recent introduction by Spidi of an airbagtype jacket is worth some consideration for those who wish to minimise the risks as the jacket contains several different innovations designed to reduce bodily damage in the happenstance of getting rubber-side-up. The Spidi DPS 02 airbag jacket contains a unique lanyard-operated carbon dioxide airbag which inflates as the rider parts company with the machine. The airbag provides protection for the neck, shoulders and back, but isn't the only protection contained within the H2OUT membrane, which is waterproof yet at the same time breathes. The jacket incorporates a back protector and composite armour in the shoulders, elbow and forearms. Available only in black, from small to XXL, the Spidi is absolutely bristling with features, such as the removable aluminium thermal liner, water-proof inner and outer pockets, anti-flap adjustment straps on the sleeves and replacement CO2 gas bottles are available.

I'm with you on that but let's hope Les and his crew learned enough to make the proper changes and it won't be like that next year. Most of the accidents I witnessed came from poor decisions on the drivers end, but a few were caused by poor flagging not warning drivers early enough. Then there were several close calls due to no pit exit marshal to signal when the track was clear.

Roberto..
Thanks for the kind words about Brennan. He was really excited about his win in Yamaha Jr. Sportsman....fell asleep with his trophy on the way home. One of the other threads talks about blocking....this is something Brennan had to deal with in his race. He encountered two "blockers" and eventually passed them where they didn't expect it. It was a fun day....lots of craziness in the HPV/Tag/Animal race....lots of different speeds and experience levels. We look forward to being there again next year!
Blockers should be black flagged.
