Just woke up and getting ready for my first SKUSA SOCAL Prokart Challenge qualify/race day.

Yesterday was my first practice day at Buttonwillow Raceway. The track is pretty nice. It's in the middle of the desert surrounded by mountains. And it is hot out here.

I raced in S4 in my 4th shifter kart race (1st one with a field larger than 4) and survived! There were 17 entries in S4. The series is very professionally run. Everything is on time. If you're late, they don't wait for you. Everything happens at the scheduled time. The racers are hardcore racers and ultra competitive (at least one guy in our class showed up and practiced for 4 weeks prior to the race). It is a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for.

The Buttonwillow kart track was great. Pretty technical and lots of fast sections mixed with all kinds of turns.

My goal was to get into top 10. I eventually got 7th and pretty happy with the result. Had a great time with good friends and great racers. And to top it off, I won a set of MG Yellows!
