Who is going/planning on doing this race? I'll be taking vacation that weekend to do it, my first race of the year :-( , it will also be my first road race. I think and hope that there will be a good turnout since it is the first time they are holding a CES even there. I wanted to go to Blackhawk but my schedule won't let me.
I'll be in the stock moto class.

Btw, side question, do you have to be a CES member to enter these events?

Membership gives you season points. Since you're not worried about that, you won't need membership. Go and have a good time...

Ryan and I are going Arno. CES hasnt had good turnouts yet this year.

I expect them to have the 2 best turnouts for Blackhawk and Autobahn. You should be good.

I will most likely get a room down there. Party up!!!!:puke::evil_lol::gives:

Excellent! Looking forward to it! With my luck, the only race weekend I takeoff will be rained out haha. It is probably good that there isn't tons of karts out there for my first time out :)

Do we know details yet like which track? North, south? You guys are running TAG?

I got the weekend off for the race! Woohoo. So now I have to actually prepare for this stuff. I've only had one track day on my shifter this year.. haha. I should probably go out another time to get ready for this race.

I wonder what kind of gearing it will be as not too many have run that North track in a kart (I know they did some testing earlier this year).

Jeff and Ryan, are you guys still in?

We are still going. Unless I wreck the kart at Rock Island!

They changed the format for that weekends race. They are NOT having practice on Friday. Sat and Sun will have extended practice sessions in the morn. With races to now start after practice and lunch.

Im not a shifter guy, but from what I have heard. Gearing for a shifter would be the same for Blackhawk, Gingerman, and the "smaller" road tracks. Dont think they change gears much at all except maybe for Daytona or maybe even Road America. Hope this helps. So if you knew what gearing to use at Blackhawk. More than likely the same.

Great Jeff, thanks!

I'll try to pit with you guys (if I'm allowed :) ). I have to go over the kart and make sure everything is good safety wise.

In the class description they are pretty vague in regards to the fuel & oil. Is it open fuel & oil or spec? They have a deal on Vega Blues on TS Racing for 150 a set shipped! I think I will be running those for the weekend. I need to get a seat too :( or lots of padding.

Hope for no rain !

Arno, they have a new rule in road racing safety. Your rear wheel hubs need to be drilled and tapped. I drilled mine in the thicker part of hub were it lines up with keyway. Then screw in a flat head. I think I used an 8mm flat head. They did this at Road America for WKA. I lost 2 hours of practice cause of this. CES also checked for this at Blackhawk. Need to be ready that morning. This would set you back!!!

Dont know what they use for tires in shifter. If its open tire MG yellows work fine if you have some already.

Thanks for the heads up Jeff. It is interesting as my hubs are already drilled and tapped. The previous owner did road race, probably came from that. I just have to find some bolts now.
So does the bolt have to go thru the axle, ie drill a hole in the axle, or is it used as a set screw type of bolt?

I just finished fabricating my battery box for my mychron stuff (I love being able to fab your own stuff, welding rocks), so I will be installing all my mychron bits on there (minus the rpm, cannot get a good reading from it at all :-( )

Hey Jeff,

I'm planning on being there before 8 also. Too bad about Ryan not being able to make it.
I'm close to being ready to go. I balanced all my wheels, got a bunch of gas, and installed my Mychron system (although I can't get correct rpm pick up, whatever).
I just need a few more parts like a couple bolts and such. I still don't have a correctly sized seat. I was going to stop by CKT yesterday but they were closed, not sure if they are on vacation or something. I'm going to give Viking a call this morning.

Send me a message with your phone number.

See you tomorrow!
