If there were a new set of rules at CIR where ANY contact at all results in a black flag, would you race? Why and why not?

Rick:

I will race!! No doubt about it.

And what about getting a scale, and have a race with everybody at the same weight? Lets say 360 or 380 or 390 weight class.

I think it WILL answer a lot of doubt and questions that we have. :4:

Let me know if you want to get the scale, get an equal class and lets have a good race. ;)

I am sure people like, Mark Hirt, Dave Harington, Will Johnston and also Bill Hartwig, one of the best drivers at CIR considering his weight , men he is a smooth driver, will be happy to race too.

Why do you think I'm racing in a spec class outdoors? Come join us and get a DD2 :) .

I've been one of the people who have been trying to get an evenly weighted class. Ask Reed or Peter J. But I can understand that CIR simply cannot add 200 lbs of lead on a kart just to make everyone weigh 370 lbs! Some people are simply overweight and that's the reality of it. Maybe they can still have light and heavy weight classes except that all drivers must be add weight to make a minimum weight.

I also recommended that they weight the karts with lead sheets. They did this at the IKWC and it worked very well. It was also easy to transfer from one kart to another easily. It's also cheap.

"But I can understand that CIR simply cannot add 200 lbs of lead on a kart "

What are you talking about? All you need is about 40 or 50 pounds if most.
CIR karts are probably about 200-250 lbs. so lets say you have Rick that weights 150 or 155 lbs, and you have Roberto that weights 195 or 200 lbs.

just to make everyone weigh 370 lbs
That is TOTAL weight of kart and driver! not the just the driver.

All we need is that difference of 40 lbs; junior classes in outdoor karting are putting 40 or 50 lbs of lead to the karts; TaG drivers that race Sonic engines are putting about the same amount.

Come on lets do it!!!

Why do you think I'm racing in a spec class outdoors?

ALL outdoor classes have a weight limit; Rotax Int. at 360, Leopard at 360 as well, Sonic at 390, HPV at 360, etc.

Rick this is nothing new to karting!
Weight classes is how outdoor karting is structure.

So, should we get the scale?

Roberto :D

I totally agree with you on the weight issue Roberto. However, I think that the issue of weight and bump passing are not tied together. One is not an excuse for the other. One is not the cause of the other. At least that's my opinion. Do you think they are tied together? :dunno:

What I meant by the "spec class" comment is that I want to remove all factors (weight, engine, etc) from the equation and focus on the driver. That is why I'm racing in a spec class.

[If there were a new set of rules at CIR where ANY contact at all results in a black flag, would you race? Why and why not?]

There was a track in Indianapolis IN that tried that...they didn't last very long. It is almost impossible not to make contact racing indoors. If CIR implemented that rule they might as well do away with wheel to wheel racing and just do time trials.

Why is it impossible? :headscratch:
