Last weekend at the CHMS points race #4, I noticed in the feature that the corners were feeling real bumpy. Especially Turn 3, but I know it was happening in other corners. Chassis is a Birel M31, engine = Rotax MAX in Senior class (365#).
I have been overloaded with chassis theory and stuff these last few months (since buying the kart in March), but I probably retain just enough jargon to sound dangerous! What I could really use are some cliff notes to get me down the right path, then backfill with long stories and theory, etc..
Here is my best guess:
As the track rubbers-in during race day, and temps go up, I suspect the track is capable of higher grip levels. If my chassis is too soft for the conditions, it may not be picking up the inside rear tire like I would want it to, hence the bumpy sensation.
Resolution? Do I stiffen the chassis? I did remove a bar from the chassis, to the left of the driver seat, in an effort to reduce oversteer back when I first got the kart. If grip levels are higher, should I put that bar back in?? This is just my guess on what could be going on, open to ideas!
Keep it simple, please! My brain is full. :o
