Has anybody heard anything about the new E-box? I haven't heard any updates in awhile.

Reed,
I attended a Mychron data acquisition seminar this weekend, and the presenter said that the new E-boxes should be available in the US in 2-3 weeks. He did mention that it could be longer than this as the Italians are notorious for their casual approach to shipping deadlines.

I just hope we get them with enough time to install them before this race season starts.

I already have the E-Box for the Mycron 4 and it works great. We used during the last quarter of the season for testing.

I think I just got confused. Is there a new e-box coming out that they have been postponing since last January? I think there might be an updated one or something coming out soon?

Doesn't the 8525 do everything the E-Box does and then some? :D
What is this "8525" Martin keeps on mentioning?
MyChron4 actually works in a car? On the AIM website, they make a distinction between the MyChron3 for karts and MyChron3 Auto. I also did not see MyChron4 listed under the "Auto" products tab. Are you racing karts Reed?!

Reed,
The "new" e-box should be coming soon. The new one that we are waiting on is supposed to be able to record more data channels than the current one....throttle/brake/steering position.....similar to DaVid but no video.

Rick - The 8525 is a cool new phone that I got and tried to talk Marty into. No I am not racing karts. I am excited for the Team CIR junior drivers to have them so I can finally do some decent analysis.
Dave - That is exactly what I am talking about. The box that includes throttle/brake/steering. That is also the one that Dave Redzsus said still hasn't actually come out yet. Hopefully sooner than later.
Any updates on this? Is the E-Box Extreme available in the US yet?

Nothing on the E-box extreme yet. The GPS is out, but I haven't had one on a kart.
You know how this electronics world is on release dates. I'll have an extreme when they come out.

I got the "regular" Ebox and it's the cat's meow. I've a wee problem with the EGT sensor, but, as usual, the support from AiM is unbeatable, and will have the problematic EGT data resolved shortly.
Martin,
It looks like I was wrong about mounting the EBox. It sounds like you were right and the EBox has to be mounted parallel to the ground with the leads facing directly towards the front or the back of the kart. How did you finally end up mounting it?
Any word on the E-box extreme?

Man, I haven't heard anything for all summer...
I know we would have if it were out. Between being 'tech' guys and Italy, I'm sure they'll say "around a month or so...".
I'd love to have some to play with, but in all honesty, I can show you how to get more info from the Ebox than most drivers are able to actually use on the track.
I haven't seen too many racers that are more limited by info than habits...

Thanks Roberto! I think I'm going to get one for next year!

Yup. How'd I know that Roberto would have this scouted out...
Just called AIM, and were recently released. I'm suprised there was no press release or even site update for them, but we can get them. $799 retail.
Let me know if you'd like one Rick. I also have a GPS that I was going to put on my kart, and never got around to it. We can get you so much data to look at you won't have time to drive!

Will the new E-box let me send and receive text messages while I'm racing?

I didn't see that on the spec sheet. :)
You may want to set up your cell phone as a conference call, like the US Cellular guys did in their rental outing in IA this summer... Maybe JAYKAY could call the track to you like a rally navigator??

I think he should just tape an iPhone to the wheel. That way when he is in the Monza, the track map will flip to landscape mode and he will have plenty of time to study it.

Whatever happened to taping the track map to the steering wheel and taking notes as you go?
All this high tech crap is getting complicated.

I've got a line on a gadget that attaches to your steering wheel to which you clip your track map; as you turn the wheel, the gadget keeps the map, through gyro technology, in the upright reference. It's only 17 lbs and costs less than $4,700. Interested?

So the Extreme Expansion box is in addition to the basic gauge? 329 for the gauge and 749 for the extreme.
