Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have been lurking for a while, usually post on the Euroteknik forums and audiworld.
Who would be in for a 2 hr outdoor karting event on september 23 at autobahn? I have organized a event with a bunch of guys I work with at Laurel Audi in Westmont and some fellow SCCA autocrossers, I am looking to have 20-30 poeple for a 1hr practice and qualifiers and a 1hr team endurance race with ten karts and 3 person teams. cost would be appx $150 a person.let me know if you interested. Thanks for the bandwith....
UPDATED aug 6th!!!!!
The date is Sept 23rd 8-11 AM. the plan is 1/2 hour practice and qually and a 1.5 hour endurance race of ten 3 person teams. If you are interested, let me know by giving me you team name, team captain and team member names. I am going to set up a paypal account to accept deposits for interested teams. the amount needed for the event is $450.00 per team($150 a person) and the deposit is $120.00 needed no later than Aug 10th and payment in full by sept 1st. Because of the deposit needed to suecure the date @ Autobahn, the deposit is non refundable if you cancel and if you paid in full and can not make it, you need to let me know before Sept 1st otherwise you will not get a refund. The kart track at Autobahn is brand new with karts capable of 60 mph. track is 1/2 mile long and 30 feet wide, should make for intense racing! Most of the guys involved work in the Automotive business and have done kart events at CIR and some others have either a background in SCCA/NASA and motorcycle track days, clean and fair racers all, no hacks that I know of.

I was aware of that, I know most SCCA'rs would not be able to attend. If this goes off well, I will be looking to plan more of theses next year, since I have alittle connection over at Autobahn.....

Adam, Mickelson and you would make a competitive team. I think it would be great practice for the upcoming 24 Hour race.

Hi Dan,
Would you be open to an adjustment to the format?
How about shortening the practice/qualifying time and making the race longer? Have a combined qualifying/practice session of 30 minutes and make the race 90 minutes.
Well it looks likes there are at least two teams from ChicagoRacers:
Rick, Martin, Peter
Adam, Jim, Ryan or Jen
We are just waiting on Ryan and Jen to confirm whether or not they can race on Sept 23rd.
Oh I for sure can. Just let me know what I need to do. Email - jblauw@comcast.net or just call my cell 847.815.6272.
~Jen
So the 2nd team is Adam, Jim and Jen. :)
I think we just all need to send Dan a paypal deposit of $40. I think it's $150 for each driver.
Hope you guys don't mind havin a giiiiiirl on your team!

yep, send either the $40 deposit, or you can pay in full. my email for the payment is inthefade@gmail.com
thanks!
also in reguards to the format change, I think we shold keep it the way it is, because most of the people have never driving a kart like this outdoors, so they want to have as much practice as possible. The only thing we could possible change would be the qualifying session, If everyone agrees , we could make it a 10-15 minute session and add the remaining time to the race. I just want to make sure everyone get enough seat time for the money spent....
thanks, dan.

Not trying to put any pressure on you but since Peter mentioned it I thought I would give you a heads up. When I first saw your post I spoke to a couple of my buddies about doing this race and we all agreed a 1 hour race is too short for a 3 man team. If everyone votes for a combined 30 min practice/qualifying session and 1 1/2hr race, we'd be in.
I agree. I'd also prefer a 1.5 hour race and 30 minutes of practice/qualifying.

sounds ok to me. what we'll do is use that first 1/2 hour for all practice, and then use the top speeds from each time to determine starting positions...... each team driver has to spend at least 10 minutes in the kart during this session.

right now I have all the teams booked. The last team was on reserve, I posted it earlier this afternoon, and when I got home and checked my email, the other people on the reserve sent in a deposit and locked it in. If anyone drops out by not getting me a deposit before Aug 15, then they are the first alternate team.

OK! with a week to go with the event, all is going as planned, weather doesn't look like a factor, which is great. If anyone is planning on bringing friends or family, I need the name of those planning on coming. Also plan on being there by 8:30 AM for a drivers meeting and a discussion on how the race is going to be run. If anyone is going to need a loaner helmet or neck brace, let me know as well. According to the people at autobahn, all you need to wear is closed toe shoes, jeans or pants and a long sleeve shirt. I have ordered trophies for the top three teams as well. If you have any questions, email me at dpwurzer@yahoo.com
thanks,

fThen, apparently, "titles" can be misleading.
Oops... "Never answer an anonymous letter."
You're "hoping for... especially from this forum." I'd be far more inclined to meet your expectations if you stop hiding behind your ridiculous "name". At least add a signature with your first name. Unless, of course, you've legally changed your name to Massconfuzion - kind of like Sting, or Madonna, or Fiddy Cent....
Very few "from this forum" know who you are. Don't hope for anything "from this forum" until you have earned any respect from "this forum".

I diddn't mean any harm, And knowing what you guys are capable of, I have nothing but respect for everyone on this forum(just wish I found this forum a long time ago) I have been an avid autocrosser for almost 20 years, I race once in a while at CIR, including having my 8 year old son racing there as well. I know a few guys names here, and I am a friend of Mark Hirt and I know Reed as well at CIR. I am a motorsports enthusiast by all means, and I am trying to put on a good event for all who are involved, this is really the first time I have undertook something this big before(12 of us from Laurel Audi in Westmont raced at cir in july, i think a few of you were there as well having your own gp at the same time on july 25) I am humbled that everyone that signed up to compete put their trust in me, that is all, I just thought Fall Brawl sounded good. For the record, And if anyone had asked earlier I would have offered, my name is Dan Wurzer, SCCA, ACNA and CIR member. 38 years old and a father of 2 boys who will be coming to watch their Dad get his ass kicked by team Chicagoracers!
It should be fun next weekend! I know I'm looking forward to it! Also there will be a trophy for each of the top 3 teams awarded at the end of the event.:)

Dan's a very standup guy Martin. If me vouching for anybody means anything I am vouching for the man! So cut him some damn slack!
Dan if you want to see what this team is really capable of you should organize a group of guys to come out and spectate at the 24 Hours of Lemons the last weekend in September.
www.24hoursoflemons.com (http://www.24hoursoflemons.com)
We will be piloting a $255 dollar 1985 Datsun 300zx that I think has about 200 pounds of "natural weight reduction." It should be an absolute hoot to watch. Especially Martin who has driven a stick shift car in like 15 years or something who is going to just jump right in.

It is my dads car so I have only driven it a handful of times. The car is absolutely fantastic. It pulls like a train and very smoothly builds the power throughout each gear.
The fan relay went bad so the fans were staying on. We took it to the Audi Exchange and while it was waiting for the fan relay to arrive the wheels got stolen off of it overnight! I think my dad got the car back yesterday or something with new wheels and tires on it compliments of the Audi Exchange. They have handled everyting really well and in the end its a misfortune for them that the wheels got stolen because the replacement money came out of their pocket.
It only has a couple thousand miles so far but I can't come up with anything other than positives about it.

Thanks for the kind words, but I'm sure that many of the other teams have drivers who better than we are.
I really do have to teach him how to heel toe for the upcoming 24 Hours of Lemons race. I was going to let him drive my car up and down the entrance road to practice.

For sure, congratulations to Team Humble Allstars for a great victory, the top three teams were still on the same lap after 164 of them, I believe the 4th place team was only one lap down. As for lap times, everyone was within tenths of each other. I just want to thank everyone who came out to compete, it was a fun and very cleanly driven event! It was nice to get a chance to put a face with all of you from this forum, and thanks Rick, my team did come in 2nd place:) I will do this again for sure next year, and I will let you guys know about it!

would you guys be interested in a 4-5 race series back at autobahn? 4 man teams instead of 3, and a 2.5 hr race @ $175.00 a person, trophies for all drivers in top three teams with a championship trophy as well? They might get a few more kart so maybe more than 10 team a race....
thanks, dan.
