Rick, is this a relative of yours?

I have many relatives in Northern Thailand especially in Mae Sai. Khun Sa is not a relative.

What did you think of him? In 1995 it was a couple of his "private army" members that snuck me in and out of Burma for a little sight-seeing. It cost me the equivalent of about $400 and I felt a little guilt about where the money might be going, but, what the heck....

By the way, it was $50 to get in and the balance after getting out.

I was told he's a really nice guy. He always kept his word and expected the same.

I just leave my passport at my uncle's place in Mae Sai and walk across the bridge. That way they can't tell I'm a US citizen. You might want to brush up on your Thai. It might be harder for you to blend in though. There's a Casino there now on the Burmese side of the border. I can get you some good deals on hotels in Mae Sai if you want to go back.
