BRP Inaugurates its New Plant in Mexico
JUAREZ, MEXICO--(Marketwire - Oct. 25, 2007) - BRP inaugurated today its new all-terrain vehicles manufacturing and assembling plant in Juarez, Mexico; an investment of CDN$35 million (MXN 87,000,000)
The event took place during an official visit from the Mexican Minister of Economic Development, Dr. Eduardo Sojo, Mr. Jose Reyes Baeza Terrazas, Governor of the Chihuahua State and Mr. Jose Reyes Freis, Mayor of Ciudad Juárez. They toured the facility accompanied by members of BRP's executive management team and representatives of the local media.
The 38,000 m2 (410,000 sq. ft.) facility currently employs over 760 people. These employees assemble the Can-AmTM ATV OutlanderTM and RenegadeTM lines, as well as the Rotax® engines that power these vehicles. It is the first time Rotax engines are manufactured outside of Austria and the first time engines and units are assembled in the same facility.
"I am pleased with what has been accomplished so far. In a very short period of time we've moved into a new facility, hired and trained our employees, and were able to start production on time, within budget and with the quality that is synonymous to any BRP product", said Jose Boisjoli, president and CEO, BRP. "By 2009, we expect that 85% of the Can-Am ATV production sold by BRP around the world will be manufactured here," he concluded.
Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), a privately-held company, is a world leader in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and marketing of motorized recreational vehicles. Its portfolio of brands and products includes: Ski-Doo® and LynxTM snowmobiles, Sea-Doo® watercraft and sport boats, Evinrude® and Johnson® outboard engines, direct injection technologies such as Evinrude E-TEC®, Can-AmTM all-terrain vehicles and roadsters, as well as Rotax® engines and karts.
