SUBJECT: BIREL KARTS 2008

The new MTS kart series for 2008 will be identified with the initials “SE”.

Below is a description of the new kart models with their technical description.

R31-SE/CR31-SE (Homologation Nr. 147/CH/08)
This kart further underwent development, throughout theentire season along with the new KF motors, whichprovided good results both in the 100cc & 125cc categories. Also the demonstration was given in theVictory of the World Cup KF2.Modifications were done to the front geometry and in thematerial used; therefore still making it a focal point for the2008 season.

RX32-SE/CRX32-SE (Homologation Nr. 79/CH/11)
Also this model has been fully developed being both in the material used, its geometry and with a special feature of anew “form” in the rear to improve performance of the kart. This model is recommended for tracks that have little grip and all shifters categories

MX32-SE/CMX32-SE (Homologation Nr. 78/CH/11)
We have made the same geometry and material modifications like the other models, even if these changesare not visual. The kart remains a solid reference point in the Birel kartrange with 32mm tubing.

RX30-SE
A new model with 30mm tubing in diameter and does not
have a valid CIK/FIA homologation therefore it can be
utilized only where homologation is not a requirement.

This kart has given optimal results in the Rotax Max
category and will be further developed throughout the next
season so that it can be homologated in 2009.

Why does it seem that Birel runs all of their press material through the Google language translator? It looks like Birel is keeping the adjustable wheelbase this year as well.

The adjustable wheelbase was something new for the 2006 Birel chassis; the 2007 chassis does not have the adjustable wheelbase.
I do not believe they will have it for the 2008 chassis.

This is a 2007 chassis with the new support on the brake system

I see. I thought that the "X" designation was for the adjustable wheelbase model.

It looks like only the 32 has the 'X' in it's name/model.

You guys have it mostly right aready, but I'll clarify a bit.

The 'X' was for adjustable wheelbase in 06. In 07 the wheelbase adjustment was dropped, but the 'X' stayed. No wheelbase adjustment in 08 either.

No big thing as it didn't seem to help much if at all.

Rick,

That is the homologation name and number for those particular chassis; in 2006 the "x" was the wheelbase model, but because they can't change the homologation paperwork ($$$$$) until 2011 they just kept the same name and numbers. The difference is that every year they just changed the last letters, in this case SV for the 2007 models.
